Holly does this too ... I always thought it was just wierd or some kind of learned behavior. But since Shelby did it as well, maybe there's something else going on.

Once I put a lunch bag on top of a lunch bag and he went crazy...
Whenever I hang out laundry,Trapp will bark at every piece I hang up.I usually hang laundry out almost every time I do laundry,but the little devil,pulls any thing he can off the line.
I don't have a really long line,and one end of the clothsline is hooked into a huge tree,and it extends way over to the post on the building.So anything that hangs within jumping height for him (and we all know how these dogs can jump) it's fair game.
Needless to say,laundry gets put in the dryer now. Both of the babes go crazy barking when Brian comes home in the morning from work.

Yet another new item to add to the list: My iDog speaker for my iPod. Smudge is terrified of it, but Fluffy feels the need to stand her ground and protect everybody from it's evilness.

It does bark though.
Also turns a wide variety of colors. I like it, because I add music to it (according to event) and then bring it to said event. Then you just hide the iDog behind something, and you have themed music for your party. We used it at Christmas.

Ally tries to go after the vacuum in a vicious way! Also the coffee grinder. When the beans hit the grinder she goes down the hall to get more running room, and when it grinds, she tears down the hall into the living room barking and pogo-ing. The other thing she does is monitor the "bird load" on the feeder. I don't know what number is too many but she sure does, and when it exceeds the maximum she allows, look out. None of these thing bother Asta in the least! 
The bird thing made sense after I read that the Shetland Islanders used shelties to chase birds off the fish catch drying on the beach!

Our old Tri girl, Daisy, tries to attack the toaster oven when it beeps... or the coffee-grinder when it goes... or the blender... or really, any kitchen-appliance that makes a noise. Before my parents remodeled their house, there was a little bathroom right off the kitchen - the funny thing was, if you just put Daisy in there before you ran the blender etc., she wouldn't make a peep. I'm sure she could hear the sound, but just having the door between her and the offending appliance was always enough!
We try to nip any ballistic-barking-at-common-stimuli in the bud at our house, because even if it starts as only one dog's neurosis, they'll quickly teach the behavior to the rest... and it's not much fun to have eight Shelties come flying into the kitchen in full attack-mode every time the toaster dings!

Besides the usual stuff my boys bark at(vacuum, blender, broom, loud cars and trucks,etc) we had an experience with Baxter at the vets office at Christmas. She had an animated, fiberoptic angel in her waiting room. The angel changed colors and moved her hands and wings. Baxter went beserk and we all had a good laugh.

Max is silly...if you have your hand or feet under a blanket and move them around he will think it's something else and start barking at it like crazy and then he try's to bite your toes or fingers so we have to watch that little crazy dog of ours

Okay ... I am going to be slaughtered but Kai'a barks at our end table, and ... and uh ... um, yeah, right now that's about it. Oh and our hands drumming on the ground when we play with her.
But seriously, I am worried, she hardly barks at all. Not that I am complaining, but I am starting to wonder if something might be wrong.
