Would you trial on bare concrete ground

Ridiculous! My cousin and I used to dance (ballet and tap) and it was huge no-no to ever practice or perform on a concrete floor because it had no give on the joints and could cause huge problems. I would never run Merlin on concrete, utterly stupid. Maybe the vet/judge should have been made to run the course bare-foot to understand what it was like for the dogs!

Never in a million years would I run my dogs on that surface.

It's bad enough there's a risk of injury to the dogs even on the best of surfaces. To set up an scenario like that with high risk to the dog is just uncalled for. I think you should post it to AgilityNerd and get to word out about this level of stupidity.

Shame on the vet/judge for not having the nerve to stand up to her "instructor" and say it's not safe. Honestly, if this idiot organizer is an agility instructor, I'd NEVER take classes from him after this level of disregard for the dog's safety.

Sick. Thats the only word to discribe it, just sick:mad:! I hope the judge/vet DOESN'T go out in bare feet. I hope she goes out in SOCKS!
I just don't understand how anyone can be so heartless!:gaah

Here's another video from the same trial that I mentioned in my previous post:

Makes me feel sick :(

Wow that was hard to watch. Why in the world would one ever agree to run a dog on such a surface! I would have packed up and left the second I saw it.

Ashley you said that was an AKC trial do you know where it was? That is was plain stupid. I mean I we mean poles to dance around in the winter but that is a hazard to the people not so much the dogs(courses are set up nice for the dogs lines and sort of the handler lol). One of the pole places had poor matting, really just obedience mats over concrete(I never ran on it but did obedience there) and it didn't take long for them to figure out that no one was entering because of the flooring. They have the spongiest matting now. In fact, it is Divas favorite floor.

It amazes me what people will subject their dogs to sometimes. :(

No, I have no idea. The original video I saw seems to have disappeared. A very well-known judge posted it on his Facebook page and there was a very lively discussion about it, but even that has disappeared.

But I agree, I would never ever run my dogs on this. The sanctioning body shouldn't have allowed it, but the owners should have absolutely without hesitation all gone home.

Flooring

There is a place I trial in Hamden Ct. called Paws N Effect that changed the flooring in the inside building.I believe it use to be rubberized flooring wich was awful. I ran on it a few times and my dogs would slip all over. They finally redid the floor.Alot of people stopped trailing because of the old flooring. Dogs and handlers were getting hurt but now it's great with new floor.

Once again we need to be the strongest advocates for our dogs!!

I can assure you, that snow is more forgiving than concrete floor, lol
Not that I would trial in snow or run a full course, but a few low jumps in the snow never hurt Mr T, but I would NEVER trial OR practice anything on concrete floor!

I just keep thinking of the split pads on those poor dogs and how painful it has to be.But also I would not run my dog in snow as my friends Lab broke a leg and owner slipped and hurt herself.
