10.18.09 Open Session: Dinner and Drinks

Early congratulation Ashley!

I will be the odd one out here :biggrin2: Most of your Shelties dislike motorcycles while mine will like them. You see I road race and track ride on road courses. I also have a road bike and have ridden it in 26 states with the goal of all 48 lower states. As soon as I puppy proof the garage he will be allowed to 'help' as a mechanic.

For work I graduated as an electrical engineer and am not even sure of my current title is at work. Over the years I have a lot of titles and most did not fit the actual task. Since graduation I have worked mostly in the defense industry with some side tasks. So over the years I have worked with missiles, tanks and satellites. In addition I also did transmission control software at GM for a while including my own truck  I also did some early internet stuff but as far as I know it never succeeded in the market.

My hobbies are electronics and Sca (not in that order)

I also have to pass on the seafood as it would likely do me in.

Next steak: medium rare please

Can you make the next steak medium rare? And the potato salad is excellent. Compliments to the chef. My wife is loving the crab cakes.

I'm originally from Barrie, Ontario, Canada (a small town 45 minutes north of Toronto). I've been working as Quality Assurance for a Biologics Company for 20 years.

My wife is originally from Kingston, Jamaica. She moved to Toronto when she was young. We met at work one day and now we've been married for 3 years.

Hi guys and girls! I love this thread, as if I didn't feel like I knew most of you already, this is proving to be very interesting.

I was born in Toledo, Ohio which I now refer to as the armpit of Ohio. When I was 15 my family moved just across the border into Michigan, a state that I truly belong in because I'm not a Buckeye but a Wolverine!!

I met my husband 13 years ago while I was working as a temp for his company. At the time he was getting divorced from his wife and I was dating someone else so we became good friends. A year later, things had changed on my end and we began dating and haven't been apart since. I have a 16 yr. old step-son that we have custody of and our 11 yr. old son along with the dogs and guinea pigs. We spend Friday nights at varsity football games and Sat. mornings at soccer games in the fall. In the spring it is time for baseball. Sometimes I think that I can't wait for the kids to be grown but then I wonder what will I have to do when they are gone?! Oh wait I know, time for more shelties!

Now that I have bored all of you, I can't wait to read more from everyone else! Love all of you guys - seriously!!

yummy meal!

The lobster and blueberries came from Maine, right?! What a perfect meal!

I'm Patty, I live in Veazie, Maine, just down the road from the University of Maine, where I work as the Director of the Career Center. I'm originally from Maryland but I've lived and worked in Maine for 28 years. My hubby, Jim, and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary this coming August 2. We love our shelties, Bailey and Joey! We also have a wild kitten, Whiskers, and a grown daughter, Katie.

My other interests are watching figure skating competitions (I'm excited to be going to Skate America in Lake Placid next month), collecting sea glass, and vacationing--especially to Prince Edward Island, Quebec City, Ireland, and day trips to Acadia National Park. I love Canada!

That's me--how about you?

Ken, Ron here, you are up near cottage country? I worked out of Toronto for years. Great city, eh?

Here's your steak..........more potato salad? Wine.........Ken are you a beer drinker? I have a home brewed OctoberFest and an Election Day Mud Slinging Porter that I brewed for this event and the upcoming elections.

Sorry Shaun, Toledo is not allowed to claim the armpit status, I was born in Youngstown and Drew Carey officially elected Youngstown as the Armpit of the United States and we are dang proud of it!

Our sports teams suck, but the city's great. My folks are still up at the gateway to cottage country. Mmm...steak. Thanks! I'll have the OctoberFest, please.

My name is Sue. I've done a lot of traveling but I was born, raised and still live in Escanaba in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Most of my very large family still lives here too. I have one son who is married and lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have one grandchild, an adorable(no prejudice here) 2 yr old grandaughter named Aurora. My family owns an old fashioned butcher shop where I work in the daytime. In the evenings I work as a supervisor for a cleaning company that cleans doctors offices. In my spare time I enjoy reading, listening to all kinds of music and of course I always find time to play with and walking my two four-legged boys.

But Jan, you don't understand how terrible Toledo is! hehehehe!! I have often referred to it as "little Detroit". It is just as bad in a lot of areas! :wink2:
