17 yr old in Palm Beach....

Since I have been working I am not on the site as often.
I was so pleased Barb was so proactive. She responded in 2 hours!
I have always donated to her rescue and will do so now to help this poor boy.

None of us want to even imagine our seniors not being in a loving home at this age.
Thanks to everyone that is helping! Even prayers and well wishes will help this poor boy.

Thank you for letting us know he will be safe. The poor thing, still looks happy but man, that old guy deserves better! Brodie and Deacon insisted on helping - they'd welcome him here but way too far away. I think it was you that posted that poem a while back on old dogs being dumped...

I am THRILLED someone who cares about him will be getting him from the county shelter!
 
Unfortunately he can only be adopted within the state of Florida so hopefully someone in Florida will take him and give him the comfort and love he deserves.
I have noticed that Florida rescues are not adopting out of state, not sure if this is due to Covid or not.

Before Brodie, I looked for quite a while for a sheltie recue. I found most will not adopt out of state. I imagine must be super hard to vet potential homes as is. I did help with transports for a number of years when my kids were young - we had fun participating in them and I thought it was good for the kids to help out and I love to drive anyway. 'Mutt' (sorry f that is crass...) type of rescues seem to be more easily switched around. We never drove a purebred.
 
I ended up finding out about this rescue years ago. I had lost my first sheltie, Kelsey, and was looking to adopt another sheltie. She had a little female that looked exactly like Kelsey! It was an exact match and only a year old. I desperately wanted to adopt her. Unfortunately, as Trini explained, she does not adopt out of state. However, she might be inclined to if an adopter does not come forward. It would be very hard on such an old boy to be shuffled around. I hope and pray he does find his forever home soon!
