I would definitely talk to the rescue first. I'd hate to see them or Whiskey punished because we want to publicize it, kwim?

Oh, if the weather stays this cool, I'll see you Sat and I'm going to bring my big camera. Rally dogs go MUCH slower than Agility dogs. ;)
 
I am confused. If he has a chip doesn't that allow them to get contact info? Heaven forbid but I think that is the case with Sca's (now I might have to check). Just seems like a chip should be a simple contact chip people, call contacts, no response then he is able to be let out. Unless the contact number works but no answer (someone on travel and not aware etc.)
 
Just a thought here..something to consider. I have been told that different counties have different machines to scan the microchips. Is it possible that this shelter didn't have the right scanner..? I remember hearing about this a few years ago and actually called our shelters to make sure they are equipped to scan for our particular microchipping.

It's terrible to think that a dog whose been microchipped could slip through the system simply because someone neglected to look

Not trying to defend here..just trying to reason it out, possibly?

May I ask where the meet is and if dogs that are not participating can come too and watch? I might have some free time tomorrow and it sounds like fun ;-).
 
It's a sheltie match in Irvine at Irvine regional park. It's $5 to get into the park. If you do rally or obedience and want to participate PM me and I'll send you the flyer.

Seems logical to me...surely doesn't seem like a process that should take 10 days.

I agree, could somebody go out and see him? (Especially since he has to stay there longer because of the micro-chip situation.)
 
This thread really is a roller coaster ride!
Poor Wiskey.....and WTH with the sheltier NOT checking for a microchip right away! I'm with you Rob...now I worry that the chips we have in ours won't mean a thing if they get lost and end up at a shelter!
