At the emergency vet - again

Well, it's New years day and we were back at the ER. Tully is quite ill, vomiting and the runs. All three girls have the runs so now I'm not sure what's causing it. But while Della and Kismet will eventually get better, Tully is just so ill. She's off the steroids that manage her IBD (because of her leg) so now her IBD has flared up and won't settle down.

As you can imagine, the house stinks (I've got carpet and of course Della and Kismet pooped all over the house, dear sweet Tully always limps to a door), spent most of NYE cleaning carpets and butts. I did manage a couple of hours - a friend and I had drinks in the backyard of another friend who died a few months ago. But otherwise only got a few hours sleep and it wasn't from partying.

I was very surprised by Tully. She wanted to go in the backyard where there's no light and then decided to stay out there. By 3am I couldn't stay awake so curled up on the couch and woke up again at 6am - and there was Tully! She managed to climb a steep flight of stairs and get through the dog door - I have trouble with those stairs, god knows how she did it.

If she doesn't get better (and she hasn't this afternoon) then they will admit her. Frankly though I would rather manage her at home, she'd be less stressed and it would cost a lot. I just may need to go back morning and night to get her medicated. But if she was admitted I'd be going morning and night to visit and take her food, so just as much travel. It's looking like she may need to go back on the steroids, which means she will lose the leg. The ER said they will try to contact her IMS if she worsens.

Gah, my head hurts. Just been vacuuming so I can get the steam vacuum out, the house stinks.

Words fail me - although the spirit Tully is showing is just incredible. My heart just aches for all the trauma you all are going through. Juggling so many different issues in one dog is just a nightmare. Please know we are thinking of you every single day and hoping for some kind of decent resolution to keep Tully comfortable. :hugs
