Baileys problems!

Re: The possible "name change". I say go for it. If it does not work out you can always go back to Bailey.

PS I feel better knowing that he is back with you. It will all be okay, now that he is back "home" to stay! You watch. (I prayed over the situation)
 
I was thinking of maybe just calling him Comet again. That was his puppy name before he left, since he was born Christmas day, and his registered name is Bailey's Comet.

The only thing i am worried about is what if when i find him a new home they change his name again. Do you think that would be too confusing for him?

If he does get adopted out, I am thinking the new people are going to have to have experience with Shelties--given Bailey's/Comet's past. I think if you explain the reason and ask that his name remain Comet, the new owner's would comply. I sure would!
 
If his name preceded scolding, which it probably did, it would be good idea.
Susanne Clothier had a client with aggressive dog, besides everything else going on with that unfortunate pup, his puppy name was one of the triggers for aggression which owner had no idea.
OTOH my dogs will answer to many names, including "monkey":lol: so change of the name now or in the future is not that significant IMHO

I know I would call him Comet- actually love that name better than Bailey - not a lot of Comets out there:winkgrin:
 
We changed Newton's name twice when he arrived here at 15 months old...he wasn't responding to the name the previous owner gave him at all. He learned his new name within hours. I'm sure that Comet will appreciate a new start and a name spoken with love and respect.
 
I think a new start is just what Comet needed!

Its funny, last night my husband, who is not a big dog person, (he tolerates my obsession) wanted to know what was supposed to be "wrong" with him. He said Comet acts like a normal puppy to him. :lol:

Right now I have 7 content sleepy dogs laying by me while I am on the net :smile2:
