Bambi the sheltie who looks like a deer

I missed this whole thread when I was away. Poor little Bambi she really has had a tough time. It looks like some of her hair is coming back in the new pics. She is so lucky to have you and what a wonderful thing you are doing for her. Bless her heart and hope you continue to see her improve.

Here are 2 pictures of Bambi! If you look closely you'll notice that she has NO little teeth between her lower fangs. NONE. I don't know if they were never there to begin with or if they were knocked out.

What a sweet face she has and she's looking so much more relaxed. What a difference care and time can make!

Those teeth may never have been there to begin with, especially if they're missing on both sides and some times even top and bottom. My two girls are both missing teeth, a genetic thing passed on by their Mom. Sadie is missing 8 teeth and Ginny is missing 6. Good for pet dogs, bad for showing.

What precious baby! She looks so much better! Her hair is growing back nicely. Her eyes are captivating!

Bless you for helping this darling survivor!

Yes, that was my reaction as well. The "naked" Bambi is absolutely frightening looking. Kudos to you for all of your research and persistence.

What a doll Miss. Bambi is!! Kudos to you for nursing her back to health and keeping her safe until she can find a forever home.

She is starting to come into her own, you can see by the pics. Thank goodness she is growing some hair. Many thanks for helping this precious little girl out.

The first side profile I saw of her I thought she was a greyhound! I hate puppy mills and this is why. I am so glad you are nursing her to health and providing a loving home. She does look much more relaxed now thanks to you.

Poor little puppy mill mama! I am so glad she's getting better! My Bela was a puppy mill mama, too, and was shaved down drastically when she got to rescue. I fortunately didn't see her until she'd been in rescue for a couple of months - fortunate because seeing a Sheltie that deprived of its beautiful coat would have sickened me. Bela had a short, fluffy coat when I got her this past June, and while it's grown out some, she's nowhere near full-coated yet.

I hate puppy mills and what they do to those precious souls. My Bela came through physically well enough, but the emotional and psychological damage may never be cured. I hope Bambi does not have to go through the psychological aftermath as badly as Bela has.

Thought I would post an update.

Bambi is all better and looking really good! Here's a picture of her now.

I may have little, if any, luck in other areas of my life, but so far, I've been incredibly lucky to find great homes for my fosters. I had initially shortlisted potentials down to 2 but was feeling very iffy about both. Then a call comes in late one night and lo and behold, it is the perfect family for Bambi! They really can't come any better than this!

The family lost their own sheltie to cancer at 13 years of age a couple of months ago. They are familiar with special diets as their sheltie had kidney problems too. They have a huuuge property (by Singapore standards), a huge family (grandparents, parents, adult kids, 2 domestic helpers) all of whom were so gentle and doting on Bambi when I took her to meet them. They love animals and also have 2 adopted stray cats. When they were talking about their first sheltie, you could just hear the love come through, and they were teary eyed and weepy. I have no doubt they will love and care for Bambi for the rest of her life!

Here's a shot of her when I took her to them last night. Look how happy she is!! She has so many people to give her all their attention!

Definitely an ending fit for a Disney cartoon :)
