Big Boy?

As of last night Zak is 16 1/2 inches tall at almost 6 months of age. Chris how tall was Beckon at 6 months, do you recall?

Wow! Didn't realize Zak was so tall. Now that I know he is Lexi's age, I can compare sizes better. Wonder how much bigger he will get?

16.5 inches. And he was going through the gangle stage -- he looked like a coyote with Jimmy Durante's nose!

Chris how wild is that they are the same height at the same age. Interesting since Pop Star is his grandsire on his dads side and his great grand sire on his mom's side.
Ashley I am not sure if he will go taller on me, although I did want a tall one. I look at the charts and wonder if he will keep going.

Ironically, when we were looking for an adoptable Sheltie a few weeks ago I was set on a small to medium dog, due to back trouble. But Cosmo was described as well trained on a leash, and gentle, which he is. He weighs in at 35 pounds according to the shelter, and although some of that is probably fat he's taller than any of our other Shelties. We love him, and like you I don't think we would have had a chance to adopt him if he hadn't been oversized for showing (also, a color-headed white.)

When we were looking, we found one ad for a 60-pound Sheltie and a breeder who was trying to place a 40-pound girl. The big ones can be really big, and my understanding is that one litter can produce all shapes and sizes.

I can relate to both you and Chris, as Pop Star also is Snap's grandsire. Snap was officially measured at 16" at 6 mos and 16 1/2 at 9 mos. My unofficial measurement at 18 mos was 17 1/4 ". One of Snap's littermates is 14". Not sure how the others ended up.

And I have Gussie Gus. Took him to the vet today to be weighed in (after the diet) and he's 40 pounds. Oh, and 20 inches. Vet says get 2 more pounds off. Yippeee!
