brilliant recall

Oh I knew that it was kind of marketing thing since the beginning. I think that was the point, to give us an image what is the whole recallers course about. BUT still there were few very interesting training tips in webinars and I think it shows us the direction where we should be headed. STILL as much as I wanted to be part of this, I won't probably ever take this course, because wow, that's a LOT of money (for me anyways). Though, I'm greatful that Susan made those webinars available it made me thinking and I made myself more interesting w/ A food rewards and game of tug, plus wow that "touch" command is powerful, too. My puppy really has changed over few last weeks since we started having more fun time etc. Today at the woods, his recall was really close to brilliant. We're not there, but he seems to be offering heeling very often on his own, watching me and overall it seems like he's expecting more reinforcement from me than from the enviroment, yay. This is not over, I know I could use those games from SG seminar, but well..... I have so many things I need to buy for pup and me that it's not gonna happen anytime soon. BUT another reason why one of us who can't afford it shouldn't feel down is another thing that Barb pointed out - it's not something SG made up.... many of those are puppy games and whole reinforcement principal is greatly described in Karen Pryor's book, too. (and many things are available in books and blogs of other trainers, too) Though, thanks for reviews from you who participated in recallers 1.0. I was really willing to pay 147$, because I'm also agility fan and loving Susan Garrett... but then this price twice is too much.

I joined and started to watch it but hubby came home and have not had enough time since to watch. We are getting ready for company for the weekend. Maybe later tonight I can get caught up. Don't guess she has a book out?

I was seeing $397 for the program. I thought that was a little steep for online.

I could bring my boys back to Obedience school and get hands on training for less. And many of the techniques seemed to be the same as Puppy school but expanded.

However, I did appreciate the reminder to try positive vs. negative reinforcement as a starting point.

Frankly, I just want the games that she talks about!

That is too bad, as some stated that she doubled her price from last year.:(
Especially from someone that readily promotes the importance of the human animal bond . Those are really steep prices and unfortunately, especially in this economy, many can not justify paying this amount:(.

Yes she does have a couple of books. 'Shaping Success' has a lot of these games in it. I have not counted the actual number of games that are in the book however and compared them to the number of games in her Recallers 1 course, which I took. But I think that book is a good start for most people.

Oh and basic obedience will not get you the results she is talking about. I took many obedience classes and take agility classes too, all of which create a bond with the dog but not like playing fun games does. I think the important thing is to make yourself as fun to the dog as anything else. Make your dog love being with you more than chasing squirrels, birds, rabbits etc. There are many ways of accomplishing this - playing fun games with your dog, that train 'recalls' indirectly is a good start. Would I pay what she is asking for this time around, no (but then, I took the first course, so have all the info already). If you cannot afford the course (and I don't blame anyone if you can't b/c I think what she is asking is ridiculous this time around) I would get her book, Shaping Success and play the games in there. Also, there are clicker training books out there that also have many fun games that you can play with your dog.

The same here - but well, whole course is based on games, lol so we're asking too much, i think. But there are many good sources out there, so maybe... I guess I will have to survive w/o the course. I mean, 400$ is too much, really. :rolleyes2:

Thanks for the tip Ania. I think I'll get shaping succes then. :smile2: It's way more affordable than the online course. While I believe Susan Garrett can teach us new things and it's nothing like in obedience classes, I just don't have this amount of money to spare.

Thanks for all the great info.

I think this is an excellent intro to positive methods of training and Susan is brilliant in teaching strategic planning of dog training.
I applaud anybody who is going to try even just a quarter of what she teaches in this little free webinar

Oh and I forgot I wish I could do more of a restrained recall, lol, but Toffee is just mortified when I hand him over to somebody else, LOLLLL
There is only couple of people other than I he trusts, I better get them involved in my training LOL
