California Members...any info on shelties rescued from fire in Riverside??

I haven't heard of any other rescues being involved yet. I did read that no dogs were being adopted/released until the evaluations were over.

We also need to keep the breeder in our thoughts and prayers as she is not doing well.
 
Some breeders (almost) only breed sables. I really wanted a tri puppy from my breeder and I would have registered them as Yes I'm Black :biggrin2:

She would have strung me up I'm sure :pop

There are 52 dogs that the shelter has determined are adoptable. 9 others are still being evaluated. If the shelter determines that any of those are unadoptable the rescue will take them in.

I will be sending in a donation today. Possibly more in the future too!
As these dogs need immediate help, I will make the request that my donation goes directly to their food, med expenses and care!

I wish there was that much excitement about all the dogs in the shelter, not just the shelties. There are dogs that have been there longer and are just as ready for their forever homes.

They look so sad... unsure of what is going on...I just wanted to cry looking at their confused little faces...

I hope and PRAY they do not place them too quickly and they screen potential adopters. Don't get me wrong... I want them in loving homes. However, we want to ensure the home they go to are the correct ones...

Shelties are not a breed for everyone. They do not need anymore trauma in their lives! We all want the best for them. :hugs

I tend to agree with you. Watching the video was heartbreaking -- but it does look like a nice, clean shelter (much nicer than the last one I was in here in Utah, but that was years ago). The other thing I found rather comforting is that they did have 2 or 3 of the Shelties in together. I'm sure it was partly a space issue, but it seems like they might be happier being with a couple of the other dogs they're known. It's still a sad situation.

I'm going to be hopeful that since the adoptive families outnumber the available Shelties that some of the families will take home other breeds. At least the publicity is getting people into the shelter to take a look at the dogs. I don't know how much Shelties would be likely to bark in a place like that as mine is very quiet when she's in a different surrounding than her own home, but if they get to barking, maybe some of the families will realize that a different breed would be better for them. Trying to be optimistic :yes:
