Checkers the Rock Star

Chex got her splint off yesterday, yay! She's still bandaged and will be probably for another two weeks or until it heals, they say. Today's is my favorite color: lime green. She has a bit of freedom now in the family room when I'm there which she's happy about and actually managed to jump on the couch once WITH the cast on and then down when I yelled NOOOO! Sigh.

So we still have some time to go with this but all the vets are really happy with how her leg looks and I was astonished yesterday to see that there's already hair growing on the graft! It will be fantastic to have her (and the house) back to normal! Thanks for asking, Cindy!

So very happy to hear Checkers is rid of her cast and the graft is taking well.(y) Not having to keep her totally quiet is plus, too! Three cheers for life getting back to normal!

This might be my favorite bandage so far! Chex Feb 28.jpg
Checkers is doing great...we're still going every other day for changes; my vet estimates for at least another week or two until the graft is completely healed. I'm amazed that I can already see tiny bits of hair growing on it when they take the bandage off! She's decided that she's over this and looking to jump on the couch and run again bandage or not, so she's back to herself. Keeping her down is a challenge!

She is rockin' that bandage for sure. I'm glad to hear she's back to her spunky self; it is definitely hard to keep a good Sheltie down. It's hard on us caretakers because you know they are thinking "What the heck Mom? I feel fine!"

I just love her little face - she looks like a sassy little miss!

I am so glad to hear she is doing so much better!

Love the colourful bandage! It must be very hard to keep Checkers quiet now that SHE thinks she's all better lol!

I've been meaning to ask you Ann, every year I get a Sheltie calendar and this one (2019) had a Sheltie for the February picture that looked JUST like Checkers. I keep wondering if it's her as it's the spitting image of her!
