Checkers the Rock Star

Is she going to be able to get out in the snow tomorrow to do her business or does that all have to be kept dry and if so, how do you do that?

Yep, it has to be kept dry. I wrap her leg with Press and Seal and carry her out and in. Naturally she wants to be in the deepest snow no matter where I put her...she loves rubbing her face in it. So far, we’ve managed but tomorrow and Sunday’s storms sound pretty big. That’s not going to be fun...

As far as I know, she's not on any calendars. I haven't submitted her for any. Although some of my Christmas pictures show up all over the place on sites I haven't sent them to!
Well, beauty is timeless...
As are your perfectly groomed Shelties! So, not surprising they show up on other sites so often!

Great use of the press and seal! That stuff works great!
My last dog had to wear a splint and to keep it dry (it was late winter early spring, so not an easy thing to do) the vet gave us a few IV bags to put over her paw and leg. Press and seal probably would've worked better and easier!

She looks bright again, Ann, and I agree with Margi, I'd be kissing that adorable face a lot, too. Glad to hear about all the good progress! i agree, I'd do whatever needed doing for my dogs!

Huge thanks to Gloria for suggesting the Press and Seal to me!! I'd never heard of it and was going to use plastic wrap. My vet gave me IV bags too but they are so cumbersome she wouldn't walk in them! Press and Seal is the best thing ever for this. I do one wrap around and another one over her foot and it holds perfectly in the snow.

We are finally creeping toward the finish, I think. We had another bandage change today, and the bandages have gotten smaller each time. I hope to have it off completely next week. We had a minor setback last week when she got a sore on the other side of her leg from the bandage rubbing, so although the graft is completely healed, we're treating that now, sigh. Her paw also swelled one day this week from the bandage so that was a mini crisis.

Checkers, however, has decided that she's so over all this. She sneaks up the stairs at every chance if we forget the gate, and has turned into a stealth couch jumper. I don't know how she does it, I can be sitting there and suddenly she's just alongside me with no warning. I admit I'm pretty over it myself too! I can't wait until I can just let her roll in the snow. We're getting there. Thanks for asking, Cindy!
