Chronic tummy problems

Just want to make sure you’re not confusing IBS and IBD.

IBD causes inflammation and damage to the bowel which could include ulcers. IBD causes the bowel to reject necessary nutrients.

His inflammatory markers are fine and stool ok so no sign of IBD, not sure what else we could test to check. He had an abdominal ultrasound and was all clear. The odd thing is Tully was getting upset tummys when we first came back, which is why I thought it was a tummy bug he kept getting. But Tully has been ok for a few months (I think hers was drinking stagnant water).

He's moaning at me because I'm at the computer instead of giving him breakfast. Definitely hasn't lost his appetite, better go feed him.

How is he doing? Gavin definitely hasn't adjusted to daylight savings time yet (after 3 weeks) and wants his breakfast an hour early! I get stares and whines..he whines a lot more since he lost his hearing, probably cause he can't hear me talking to him

Lol - we're lucky we are on DLS atm so I got an extra hour in the evening. I always transition times when we turn the clock back - Deska is sooo food motivated and very good at telling the time, and he nags! He puts his head on my lap, then he walks backward and he moans and he groans. It drives me nuts.

Just brought some minute steaks (the skinny steaks) and I'll give them one of them for breakfast for a while and see if taking him off the kibble helps. Of course he'll expect steak for breakfast all the time after this.

OK, poop is shaped, albeit a little soft, so definitely improving. I did cut out the white potato and egg and he had sucralfate, I have not idea which, if any, has made a difference. I know he's not too good with sweet potato, but then neither am I (sweet potato has some hard to digest carbs). Crikey, if it's potato then there will be no kibble I can use.

This is what happens when a dog spends 12 years eating all kinds of garbage food he finds on the ground!

Glad to hear Deska is a bit better! Hopefully, it will get better each day. Tummy troubles are the worst! Especially for Shelties. All mine get sanitary cuts for that very reason!

Guess our boy is on the elimination diet! Time to add in things one by one....
yeah for good poop!

Skylar actually had problems on every single kind of kibble I ever tried with her. I switched her to raw and she's had almost no problems. Not sure if a raw diet is an option right now, with your cancer treatment ongoing though...........
