Do Your Shelties Ever Mind the Cold?

I live in a house built in 1931. There is no basement, just a crawl space, although the furnace is down there. I leave the furnace set at 67 during the day and at 65 during the night. The floors are cool. Mine sleep on the floor, lay on the floor. They do not mind. I have no issues with keeping them warm. Their coats do that.
 
We live in a house even older than Ronna's...it was built in the mid-1800's and has an old field stone basement with hard packed earth floors. We keep the furnace set at 65 and yes, the floors are cold, but my shelties and my pommies always chose to nap directly on the floors rather than on the rugs...although at night they go lie in their cuddle beds. My only little one who choses the rugs or will lie right in front of the wood stove, is my tiny Yorkie...she likes warmth.

Prince loved the cold and snow until he was 8 years old. We used to shovel the driveway and pile the snow up in a big pile. When the temperatures would warm up and melt all the snow but the snow we had piled up, Prince would climb up on the snow pile and just lay there. The loved it.
 
My two like the cold weather...but not that well. They love the step when the temp is low...have never seen them do that! Love the photo.

That picture is exactly what Lil' Lady does, today its zero degrees here, so I
call her in before I have a sheltie ice statue. Lucky doesn't mind the cold either.

Days like this with 5 inches of snow and zero out I wish I had a sheltie fur coat
growing on me.
 
Olive doesn't mind playing out in the cold unless the wind picks up and even then, our best run times have been between 37 and 53 F with gusting winds. However, when we are at my parents', we let her sleep on the futon with us (and we pile on the blankets.) She doesn't seem to sleep as well in her crate there, likely because my parents' house is 10-15 degrees cooler on the main floor compared to our house, and 20-25 degrees cooler on the second floor where my old room is.
 
Baker (just over 6 months) absolutely LOVES his first snow! He loves to burrow his nose to make a little snow pile that he then eats!

But, here in WI it is bitterly cold and Baker's feet aren't liking it at all. Toby (and my angel Trace) dealt with larger paws, only occasionally had issues with cold feet. Baker's feet are more cat-sized. If they get cold he will lift one, more often will lay down! I feel so bad for him. Thinking I might need to try booties for him? Not sure if he'll even be able to keep something like that on...thoughts???

Years ago I had a really tiny sheltie rescue boy, Teddy, and his dainty little feet would only last about 2 minutes in the bitter cold but he loved the snow. I always went outside with him and as soon as he would pull up a front paw and whimper I would pick him up and wrap him inside my down coat until his paws felt warm again, then he was good to go for another couple of minutes playing in the snow. He hated anything on his feet and this was the only way to give him any extended happy outside snow playtime when the temps were really low.

When it got down to around -15F, we would do a quick pee-and-flee in the back yard. If his paws got too cold, he would start limping. Then he would sit down, and raise one paw to show me that it was cold. I rushed him inside, and then we tried again after he had a chance to warm up.
