Earnhardt's diagnosis is cancer

Michele

I'm so sorry! I just caught this thread tonight.

I lost Timber to a tumour in less than 1 day. He was diagnosed and died the same day. I'm not sure what's worse.

I know, of course, that you will do the best that you can for Earnhardt to keep him comfortable. And surely, we will all miss him and his adventures on the forum when his time to go finally comes.

Hugs.....

Michele-

I am so very sorry to hear about Earnie diagnosis. I know how much he means to you and Brian, and this is just heartbreaking news.

We had a setter that had bone cancer. It was not pretty by any means, so be prepared.

We had surgery on her at first...it was on her back leg. Unfortunately, it grew back very quickly. If we had to do it again, I am not sure we would have the surgery.

We made one very very big and selfish mistake with our Shasta. We let her hang on too long. Bone cancer is extremely painful for the dog, and our Shasta was a very stoic girl, so I can just imagine the pain she was in. Please just pay attention to dear Earnie.....and my best advice is to listen to what he is telling you and let him go before he gets in too much pain. I still have nightmares about Shasta's painful cries....screams as she was trying to move because it hurt so much. If only I could do that over again.

I am sorry if this is sobering....but I just feel like I need to let you know so that you can make the best decision possible for Earnie, when his time comes, and not feel guilty about the decision to let him go. It is the best thing that you will be able to do for him.

I am thinking of you, Brian, and Earnie :hugs

Earnhardt has his wings~

This morning Earnhardt wanted to go outside, unusual,as he always needs to be prodded to go these last few days. As I watched him go down the last step,he collapsed on side walk. He could not get up.
Everytime he tried,he could not bear any weight,so he fell onto his side.

I ran out, thinking I just needed to get him up,but I could'nt,and I knew from the look in his eyes,he was scared.
I ran for Brian, and he carried Earnhardt in the house. After several attempts,he could not bear his weight.

The gates of Rainbow Bridge welcomed our beloved Ernie at 12:25 today. We are devasted, and in a stand still mode here.
We just need some time.

I am so very sorry to hear about Ernie. My heart breaks for you. I know how you are suffering. But just remember he was so very loved each and every day you spent with him.

RIP Ernie, he passed away knowing he had a great home, and so loved.

Prayers for you and Brian, Ernie is at peace without suffering.

My heart breaks for you and Brian, Michele. We all send you hugs and love and the comfort of knowing that you gave Ernie the most wonderful life and love a dog could have.
