Gavin's dotage

the local SF dogpark by the ocean.... an asian woman has adopted 5-7 older dogs. see them every time we are there (sometimes a dog has passed, so the numbers vary. one used to ride in a wagon like Gavin). Some were rescued from other countries. all very sweet, but a few are pretty shy/wary. They all kind of mosey down the path spread out over a long distance as some move slower than others, so we have to take our time and count them :) watching her unload her car is a treat! and she always loves on Gavin. very sweet...
 
I've gotten used to letting Gavin collapse in odd places. The kitchen is a common one, after eating or drinking. Usually he'll hang there for a few minutes and then get himself back up. Sometimes not, and he'll end up sleeping in weird spots. I know it doesn't hurt him, and making him get back up is a good thing. It's hard sometimes.... His leg is almost all healed and we are going to the beach Sunday. I will put a blister bandaid over it (waterproof). Then we start with more exercises to help his strength. I can only focus on 1 thing at a time with Gavin, or it gets overwhelming. The stroller is working well, too.

I don't know how I feel about this. I was making lunch so Gavin comes in the kitchen. I decide to help him with his food bowls (I steady his hips). he eats a few bites then moves away. He ends up laying on the floor. I put his food bowl on the ground from the elevated feeder and he starts eating. He is a slow and messy eater now, and he takes small bites, always dropping some of it on the ground. I don't know that it will help him to have the bowl on the ground cause I don't see him going to the bowl, laying down, and eating. But I can figure out how to get him to lay down in the kitchen so I can feed him when I'm home. But then eating while standing is good exercise for him. and he has been doing decently with eating, but then I don't know how much effort and time it takes him since usually he eats when I am at work or sleeping. sigh....
 
no pictures of the beach. very overcast day and not too many dogs. Gavin walked pretty darn far, and quite a bit of it while deep in the water. So I have a tired boy now. His leg is pretty much all healed up now, too. Just about 7 weeks. used up 1 1oz tube of honey and lots of bandage supplies!
