Gavin's dotage

My dogs would love a bed like that! I’d been keeping the dog bed in Blueberry’s pen but since I haven’t been working I took it apart. Next thing I know Finnie is in the bed, all comfy! I put the dog bed in the bedroom thinking he’d sleep in it rather than the bed but no such luck lol. He loves his dog bed but not enough to stay off my bed!
 
So i found Gavin has bunions on his paw (right front paw, whereas his rear left leg is the bad one). I only noticed because we went to the beach so he got hosed down, and then it was obvious one paw was bigger than the other. I also do his nails at least every 2 weeks, so I am guessing they have only been noticeable since sometime after christmas (as before that we were at that beach every week and his paws got hosed down weekly) and are maybe a consequence of altered gait/stance and his weakness.

They don't seem to hurt him, so I guess I just keep an eye on them. Next step would be arthritis meds I guess. I mean, we are beyond lucky we haven't had issues before.

Oh- and he loved the beach. we started off in his wagon and he was happy. once we got close to other dogs, he started sitting up and then trying to stand. I let him out briefly to say hi, and then back in for the jaunt to the other beach. once there I had him out for a bit and he was really enjoying himself and walking down the beach on his own. I put him back in the wagon for the entire walk back and even when we saw other dogs he was content to just stay in his wagon.

further physical therapy for Gavin; Gavin loves donut beds. about a year ago he stopped using the one in the living room and I assumed it was because the bolsters were too high to get in and out of. A week ago I dragged it out to see if he used it. He loves it, even though it can be challenging for him to get out of it. Turns out he probably stopped using it because of its location tucked between the door and couch (And not visible to me on the couch).

He is in his big puffy bed all the time. How he manages so well is amazing, considering he has to lift his bad leg up and over. More PT for Gavin so its all good :) Somehow he likes to have his head hanging out and down. But he is happy. And that's all I care about.
