Gavin's dotage

its the perfect height for Gavin to carefully lift the containers out!
I think I stole this from a company that I worked for that closed down.....

today has been a good day, he has been relatively active especially considering he had his park visit this AM.
I had him in his stroller for our walk to the local library, and he was alert the whole time and when we got close to home he stood up and grumbled (he usually only does that when he wants out to potty but he had just peed so it was more of the 'I want to get out and play/eat')
 
So wonderful to hear Gavin is still enjoying his outings! It is so much harder on senior dogs where we have severe winters with heavy snow, freezing rain, and ice! Gavin is blessed to be with you in weather you both can tolerate and get out for that much needed fresh ocean air!
Keep up the good work Gavin…those recycling bins must be guarded!
 
I decided when Gavin could no longer do what he used to, that I would do what I could to make sure he still got similar experiences. So our hikes to the beach became more sedate visits in his wheelchair. Our walks became stroller walks. I know it isn't the same for him, but it's about adapting to his capabilities so he still has an enjoyable life.
 
it certainly keeps him perky. He literally goes in the bin several times in the morning and several more at night. My kitchen floor is stone, so tricky for him to stand on for long periods of time, much less balance while licking things. Of course, he often ends up laying down (But then he has to get to himself back up). I have area rugs/runners over most every other surface, so the kitchen is his obstacle course I guess. (I do have a runner to his food bowls in the kitchen, since that is NOT an optional activity). And I can say Gavin does drink more water than he used to before he got sick and I put the yoga mat in front of his water bowl. It's not like he pees more often, but I do have to re-fill that water bowl more often.
