Gavin's dotage

expecting triple digits over weekend. so definitely beach sat morning. and maybe time to try out the new pool :)

starting PT on his leg as he is collapsing lots more lately. easy ones, multiple times a day. basically, I take away one of his front paws and force him to balance on his good rear leg and one front leg. I do support him a but, and goal is for him to not need help. then I can start on other stuff.

After 8 weeks, the paw is all better!
you can't even tell there was an issue (small discoloration is all).
Gavin had a great time at the beach, so we will lay low today. His large mass on his hip area is somewhat bigger and does rub on his wheelchair bars. Since he only uses it for beach and potty, even more reason to work on his strength so he doesn't need it to potty.

So today we went to the dog park on the bluffs near SF. I was hoping it would be cooler there (you know, further north, by the ocean). nope! we found a shady spot on an overlook and hung out there quite a bit as it was at least 10-15 cooler there. the breeze was hit or miss, but shade was definitely welcome. we left at 8AM because it was already warming up here. doesn't bode well for a walk tomorrow morning either. sigh....

Been unusually warm here for early September too! I’m not complaining because I know what’s coming:eek::coldfeet: colddddd! Ughhhhh I hate this time of year…cleaning up the garden, bringing in all my summer decor and yard furniture. Only plus side is I won’t have to cut the grass for about 6 months :ROFLMAO: and of course the dogs love the snow.
104 Sharon?!!! That’s way too hot! Even today was maybe in the low 80’s but really windy so felt cooler and the nights are cool! Weather that hot I’d be staying indoors doing nothing just like the dogs!

Gavin did not eat yesterday. didn't drink much either; I brought him a little water bowl a couple of times and he drank from that. This morning I hand fed him (he ate a full meal quite eagerly) and watered him the same way. He has plenty of food and water available to him, but I guess he like the attention? I waited until the place was relatively cool at 6AM; it'll be hot by 8.

I added a water bowl on the ground with his food bowl, as well as the elevated water bowl. I can keep hand feeding him during the heat wave, water is more important. It's already getting hot inside at 9 AM :( Guess it wasn't cool long enough to help. we got out to go potty at 7:45 am and poor guy isn't getting back out until it cools back down. which looks like 9PM. time for an ice pack on his belly.
