Glueing ears- instructions

Maybe your breeder can help? Maybe that is why she was asking you to come up asap?
 
Ok, I've rebraced and retipped. I'll remove in a few days and check again. I think I have the correct position though it took me a little more glue than I would have liked to get there.

I really had not planned on continuing to glue but I prefer prick ears to hound ears.
 
ok - I THINK I know what you people mean by "hound ears" but not sure I've ever seen that on a photo of a Sheltie. Does anyone have one that I can see?

Sure sounds like it's something to avoid...

Bacca had hound ears.

I have a picture of Rev, Birchs half brother. He has them too. I just need to find it

Yep, he did. And in private emails it was confirmed that this was common in his line. You can see what they look like if you look at my photo album.

Oddly, the ears suited his personality...my sweet Eeyore.

I miss him so much!

Callan's ears are high set though tipped too far forward. Hard to believe that one week of bad gluing would cause that, especially since he has barely begun teething.

So I've braced his ears and retipped the, I hope, properly. Will leave it for a couple of days then take another look.
 
Ohhhh. Cubby's paternal grandmother has those type of ears but his dad is tipped nicely and he, well, hasn't grown into his years yet.

And I see why "hound ears" are not what one would strive for, but Bacca was a beautiful dog. I will be happy with Baker if he ends up close to that.

My Trace was so "super fluffy" and I have tried to explain to DH that this next one may not be quite so. The one & only time I took Trace to a professional groomer (friend) she commented that most breeders would "kill for a rough like that". To me it was just Trace. And the new boy will be just Baker...but I will try to do better with his ears and also his grooming...and also teeth brushing...

Basically, because of what I have learned here, I know I will be a better Sheltie owner with the new pup. Happy about that!
