Glueing ears- instructions

Funny -- now I am watching Cubby hoping the ears don't go UP or DOWN. I noticed the earset on his paternal grandmother instantly but didn't know that is what they were.

However, to me, the most important thing is that they are the same. Up, down, tipped, whatever, as long as I have a pair.

I am leaning towards this method since it seems the easiest - just a few drops of glue & you're done. (and yes, I know it will NOT be anywhere near that simple, but you get my point)

But...I have a friend that has Collies, and once had a Sheltie, and she insists that the ears need to be folded more tightly together, not just glued at the tip. She recommends an inside-out tape roll on the inside of the tipped part. (sorry if I'm not explaining that correctly so you know what I mean).

Thoughts?

sounds like she is referring to the Japanese tape method
 
I've come to the conclusion that Callan's ears don't need gluing but a good bracing might fix his current flopping ears. I'm literally thiking about just putting a bandaid to hold his ears together. LOL!

I just hate the gluing thing....if you get it wrong, then you have to get it out and start again. After picking out glue over the last week, I'm really not interested.

But its weird that his ears were pricking, then I glue for one week only (incorrectly too low) and now they are hound. I still am puzzled that 1 week of bad gluing at 4 months could do this. Doesn't make sense, when the experts tell us we need to glue for up to 1 year old or more?????? Shouldn't I see his ears start to prick again?

I say give both a shot. See what works for you. Bentley's breeder glued, Lexi's breeder taped, and Enzo's breeder glued. We found an awesome combo of gluing and taping that works well for us.
 
I'm seriously considering taping, but without glue. So what if I have to replace every couple of days. Tape is easily adjustable. Glue, not so much.

But instead of duct tape, I would be inclined to use bandage tape instead. Just thinking out loud.
