honking like cough

Pico has had a very good morning. Coughing seems pretty much only after activity. Keeping him calm is getting harder and harder. He goes to the front door and rings the bells at 8AM, our normal walk time. He's not jumping on them (yet) like before but i think thats coming. But I will not make the mistake of last time and take him out for a walk for at least 2 more weeks.

On a good note, I have my sink back! plumber defaulted to grease as the culprit but I have never poured grease down the sink and I've lived here 11 years. I am still going with tea leaves since that's about all that goes down my sink.....so now I need to waste lots of water ad make sure I flush them down really well. That's a hard sell for a californian....we're always told to SAVE water.
Try using one of the pipe cleaner products. Should eat most of leaves and other bio stuff. Not fast like a plumber but as a prevent return thing. And give Pico a pet, Ian says no barking spinning and flying would be horrible.

so anything much beyond a gentle pet is too much excitement! sigh.
So lots of gentle hugs for the time being.
I feel it, though. my throat is the same way when I'm recovering from a cold, anything that increase the airflow is bad (and laughing is terrible!) and leads to coughing fits

The clog wasn't in the sink, but in the pipes elbow. So not just an easy P trap cleanout. Landlord tried a pipecleaner thing from the outside outlet (closer to clog) and no dice.

My plumber told me the main culprit is dish detergent…he said it’s made with an oil byproduct.
My kitchen sink plugs up almost once a year…the culprit is dog hair and a greasy sludge. Like you I never put grease down the drain and make sure to wipe my pans first.

pretty sure that's what my landlord used...some less bad chemical.
weird thing is, is went from normal to clogged overnight.
Best guess is that I never really used the sink enough to back it up to noticeable levels and it drained overnight. Most of my cooking is in the oven and use aluminum foil over my pans that I can just throw away instead of needed a good scrubbing.

my opinion is 1 clog over 12 years is pretty damn good LOL.

Pico doing good this morning :)

Maintenance: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Green-G...d-Grease-Traps-Drain-Cleaner-G0731J/304681358. also get a plastic stick with barbs, great at pulling hair out of traps and drains. Once they clear it in a few days do the pipe cleaner thing. Get the rest of the build up so the next time has less crags to start on.

Spitfire commands!
I’ve used those plastic strips with the barbs…problem is my clogs are always too far down. Our bathroom sink the plumber had to cut the pipe at the wall and use the mechanical snake. He was worried if he couldn’t get through it he’d have to cut the basement pipes. Fortunately he unplugged it though. I hate clogs! I will definitely buy that Green Gobbler to keep on hand!

Our did that too…and a bad clog like yours!
I think something just shifted and fully blocked it!

Not so much on hand as put it in once in a while. It is not a unclogger, it is removing restrictions.

I meant to have on hand for the next clog…and there will be another one. I find the dogs are a huge contributor to the kitchen sink clogs! The last one was a lot of dog hair! And I don’t bathe my dogs in the sink…the dog hair is just everywhere.
I’ve had a bad clog (where I’ve had to call a plumber) at least every 2 years.
