How do you keep a Sheltie off the bed?

This was my thought too!

The question really is, "Why don't you want Sca on the bed with you, you big meanie?"

I love the doggies to sleep with me. Cooper stays all night, he won't jump off the bed, but Meggie goes up and down depending on her mood. She will go in her crate, under the bed or behind the chair as well. I wish she would stay right next to me.
Let's see 30lbs of let's play at 2AM. Then add in his penchant for chewing hair and biting ears....

My preference would be for no animals on the bed. Only because I toss around at night and they get in the way. But I havent managed to convince the cat to stay off the bed, and because Tully thinks she is boss of the cat then she has to be on the bed too.

So this morning I woke up to a cat on my head, a sheltie at the middle and a sheltie laying over my legs. Obviously the animals have worked out a solution to my tossing - they lay across me and pin me down:lol:

Ah one more reason to let them on the bed whiplash protection.

Sheltie snores

Oh i would not be without Indie on the bed with me. I also have DH and Quincy, our cat, what else are you supposed to do with a queen sized bed. There is nothing more soothing then hearing the plop, lick, lick, and then the big, before Indie settles in to sleep, sheltie groan and then it's lights out. Wouldn't have it any other way :wink2:

Like someone else said....advantage shelties, no let me re-phrase that....game, set, match....Sheltie's Rule.

Is it possible???
The question here is how to get them to leave enough space for the human occupant(s). It always amazes me how Revel who is a standard sized sheltie can expand during the night to become the size of a St Bernard and take up ALL the space in the bed yet shrink back to a sheltie in the morning:lol: It must be a similar trick to the one where he can be everywhere at once at feeding time - just so I remember him!
With two there's no chance so Yogi has his crate, which is fine but as soon as he's out in the morning he's on the bed and making a nest in the pillow.

Deja just started gracing our bed for the night recently. She used to jump down after a few minutes and sleep on the floor. We have frayed pillow covers as well but it seems a small price to pay for Deja's comfort.

It's been so hot this summer that our girls have been on the floor. But as soon as the cooler weather hits on the bed they will be. The trick is to fit 2 humans, 1 sheltie and 1 collie in a queen size bed.

Collies may look bigger on the outside but JRTs can sure take the room! I have never seen a dog stretch as far as Darby can.. then he rolls over and stretches the other way!

When I first read this my first thought was...why would you not want them in bed! Maggie has slept with us forever and that little 15 pounder can take up some room. Zak has taken to getting in bed with us till midnight then he gets in his bed or goes to lay on the bathroom tile then rejoins us around 5:30. Katie used to try to sleep with us but Maggie would always growl at her and make fuss but with Zak she could care less.
Love cuddling with them, nothing like a sheltie nuzzle in the morning.
