If you didn't own shelties...

If I had the room, Id do a collie in a heart beat...rough or smooth...I think they are both stunning!!....
The other breed I would have to consider is a shiba inu. I love the look of them and their cat likeness.... :)
 
Only if the sheltie breed didn't exist. I would go back to my English Setters, #2 a Havenese, #3 Australian Shepard.

Golden Retrievers are fantastic. They would be #2 or #3 choice also.
 
Hands down a Golden Retriever!!! I had one for 12 1/2 years and he was the BEST!!!

If I had the strong leadership skills and not be such a terrible push over, I would also love to have a Rottweiler or Pit Bull. I grew up with Rotties and our girls were the best. Fiercely devoted, protective and worshipped the ground we walked on. I LOVE Pit Bulls because they are SOOO misunderstood, (like me), they love their people, geeze, I could go on and on...:biggrin2:
 
Always also wanted a Pappillion!?
Border Collie -- they are so friendly, or at least so aloof as long as you throw something they'll let you pet them, lol

GSD-- as long as they are working lines ... poetry in Motion :) I still miss mine
 
I would love to have another Lab (black or yellow) since my Sonny Boy was such an awesome dog.

I know that I will always have a sheltie, but I have always, always wanted a fawn Great Dane :biggrin2: Call it Marmaduke/Ugly Dachshund syndrome or plain insanity. Hubby won't let me have one due to the health issues/short life span. Of course he wants a GSD (Lots of joint issues though), but wants a working stock/German stock one...not the sickle hocked American show versions......

and a Newfoundland!

Funny, shelties are the only smaller sized dog that I will ever consider owning :winkgrin:
 
Definitely a Havanese. I think they're the cutest little critters. But not as cute as a Sheltie! :wink2:
 
When I was looking for a dog, I had it down to two breeds--shelties and corgis. Shelties came out on top, but if I didn't have a sheltie, I would probably have a corgi.
 
DH: Silken Windhound for their sheer beauty
DS: Papillion because they're adorable in looks and personality
ME: Rough Collie because next to Shelties, they're God's loveliest creatures
