I just got an email from my old vet saying that the "new and improved" Interceptor is now available. What exactly is "new and improved" the email didn't say.

I went to the Novaris website, and it didn't say anything about availability or 'new and improved'. You can see the FAQs here: http://www.ah.novartis.us/FAQ/FAQ.htm

I had to get a new dose for my 10 month old (she's growing, so I only get one at a time), and my vet didn't have it. I sure hope your vet knows something I don't as I'd really like to stick to that med. I have used it for three of my dogs over the years, and never had a positive heartworm test or an intestinal parasite problem.

I have been getting it monthly through my vet, it is autoshipped to me. They said it is being released in slow quantities. I was told nothing about any changes. I will ask about that next time I am there.

I also hope this is true. I read an article on Pet Direct I think awhile back Interceptor would be back in 2013. YEAH if its back already.

The company I read mixed up human meds with over the counter and perscription pills. I quess they closed the whole plant down even the doggie meds. Maybe those meds got in the mix also. :ick

Interceptor has been on back order, but the company has filled orders with supplies from warehouses- at least that was what we were told. They are back to producing it but it will be a different formulation. Don't know what will be different for sure, I believe something has been added ...sorry I don't know any details :o

I gave Ellie the Trifexis that cost approximately one gazillon dollars and she did just fine with it. No reaction to it at all. I will finish the whole package and by then, I really hope the Interceptor is back on the market.

I know, it is SO expensive! My vet didn't want to give me Heartguard though, he said he had a Sheltie patient who reacted to it and didn't want to take the chance
