Kip got stung by yellow jackets!

Benadryl usually knocks my guys out for a bit.

Oh, just saw your post! It’s probably the Benadryl making him sleepy then. I remember Jessie was pretty sluggish after taking Benadryl. Fortunately she did not get stung today!

Oh how awful, poor Kip! The Benadryl will help and I’d use a baking soda paste in his ear too as Margi suggested. Hope he feels better!

Kip is feeling much better! He played a short game of tug with me, and tried to eat my braid which is a good sign that he is going to be ok. I just hope he isn’t so traumatized that he doesn’t want to walk near that area anymore.

I’m thinking of spraying the yellow jacket nest. They’re an invasive pest, and a hazard to pets and livestock. We had a few day old calf get stung all over her neck once. When we found her, her neck was all swollen and she couldn’t stand. Fortunately we rushed her to the vet, got meds, and she survived

I got no troubles at all spraying stinging bugs! Of course pretty much everything here in the desert sticks, bites or stings you. It's a survival thing

When Zeek got stung he was a bit skittish of the area for a week or so. But it was on the way to his frog hunting pond so he got over it quick

I sprayed mine that got me. There was a bee cave right next to the front door. Hard part is finding the hole without getting stung in the process.

I remember my vet telling me years ago regarding Benadryl and allergies that he wasn't sure if it helped them or that they got sleepy and didn't bother with them because it's the major side effect.
Poor guy..glad he's feeling a bit better today though.

Glad to hear Kip is feeling much better! I got bitten by some unseen bug last night while walking the dogs and I yelled - it hurt a lot and took me completely by surprise! Luckily nothing went after the dogs.
