If he needs to be loose to potty, try setting up an ex pen in your yard to put him in. I’ve clipped two together to make a bigger space if they need to move around more. That way he can be loose but you can easily catch him and he can’t run more than a step or two. You can find them online and they’re not expensive.

That is what I did when Mr Chance hurt his rear leg an needed total restriction. Worked well. But he was six at the time.

I would! But he’s doing much better on the leash now quick improvements!
