Low thyroid?

Thanks for all the kind words for comfort and support Trini and Mally's Mom!

The poor little thing was so exhausted when she arrived home. She wanted to drink the whole bowl of water! I allowed her only four or five gulps and took the water away. Then allowed her to drink the same amount in 1/2 hour intervals. Gave her a small amount of food.

She worried me in the evening as she could not stand up! Her back legs just did not support her. I had to pick her up and put her on the carpet and then she was OK.

Her night was awful! She coughed most of the night! I am sure it must have been from the tube they put down her mouth. She had three teeth that came out during cleaning and needed two stitches in her eye. She does not need to wear a cone as she is leaving it alone. They need to come out in 10 days.

She is resting now with Chance... so glad to have her back home safe and sound!:hugs

Aww...poor little girl. Some dogs take much longer to get back on their feet than others after being under...our Kinnon always takes a good 24 hours before he is really stable on his feet. I hope Jasmine feels more chipper today. BTW there is a shot that can be given to stop the coughing if she continues to cough. One of our pommies has trachea issues and anytime he is put under it used to trigger days and days of intense coughing...but last time our vet gave him a shot and it totally stopped the coughing. I can't remember the name of the med, but I can call my vet and find out if you need the info.

Gentle hugs to Jasmine.

I am happy to report that she has not coughed at all today! :smile2:

Thanks for the offer Trini!

I forgot to add the blood panel they did before surgery.
The doctor said the high numbers did not concern him as much as food and water was withheld.

He said we might try another blood panel in 10 days to see where she stands.

Question: How long until her eye gets back to normal? Swelling etc...

Gloria, Pixie never had swelling on her eye after her 2 surgeries to remove the growths on the eye lid. If Jasmine's swelling doesn't go down in the next day or two I would contact your vet and let them know. Was she put on any eye drops post surgery? Pixie was put on Poly Neo Dex eye drops 3x daily for 5 days after both surgeries to take care of any possible infection/irritation.

Good to hear the coughing has stopped!

Glad to hear she is home and doing well now.

It's so sweet a picture - Chance has probably given her some security :hugs

Maybe it is just my imagination.

She is on a antibiotic now. Maybe that is why he did not give me eye drops!

Here is a picture of her eye now...

Gloria, her eye looks good and the antibiotics should take care of any issues. What a sweetie your Chance is to give comfort to little Jasmine. :smile2:
