Oh, she's BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for sharing this with me. It is yet another interesting insight into the "dreaded" sable merle! The color seems to be so malined! What a shame! Now, I am kinda all puffed up because I will soon be the owner of an "unusual" sable merle! Ha! Look at me!

My Aunt (who just passed away) bred her blue boy (brother to my first Sheltie, Jock) to a sable and white (tri-factored) and got the most gorgeous sable merle boy. Color's were bright and clear...and he was gorgeous himself! Grandma (who co-owned the two dogs, and started the kennel) was beside herself because he'd been neutered and was a pet! (A much loved pet, but one of those that got away!)

Yes! Bragging rights are great! I've always been proud that Bacca appears to be a red sable, and I read in Sheltie Talk that they are rare in North America. Don't know if it's true or whether he really is a red, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
