Yes, as Ann writes "luck and timing more than training" remember this when you are at your limit

No doubt this is what made my puppies clean in the house - in return I lost some weight every time.
I clearly remember I had forgotten all about how it was to have a puppy

I was standing in the middle of the night, outside with my Minnie
in a terrible rainy weather with bare legs in my raincoats - then I thought
"what have you messed up in ?? - can you at all manage this task "

Apparently I could, because today I have my lovely Minnie.

A beautiful day you stand there and all the frustration is gone
and you have your lovely Minnie who has a great big brother

Minnie has a puppy nylabone she loves to chew, it's brown, and isn't shaped like a regular nylabone. At first glance it looks like poop, so we're constantly thinking its poop! Minnie pooped in the house! Lol!

Can you keep her contained in a small puppy pen? Does she have the run of the house?

Maybe she has too much freedom? I think it helped Liam learn to hold it.

LOVE THAT PEN!! Best thing I ever bought! Yes I do have the same exact one, and she does use it. I love it because we can shape it to block the hallway, which is what we are doing now. So it's now a trapezoid, lol. We weren't blocking the hallway before, so this will help. What an adorable picture!

She will get it. It might just take a bit. Cassie is finally catching on. Annabelle eventually got there. And believe me- if Annabelle can turn into a wonderful dog, Minnie can too. Housebreaking is one of the most difficult things in the world to do. Unless you have an Angel who just instinctively knows.

Next time you have to clean up a piddle, remember I had to clean up 5 huge bladder voids from my new "older" dog! Kiss that sweet baby nose, it won't be a baby nose much longer!
Also I remember venting on here when Fil wasn't doing so well with training--after 6 months he was perfect. Sometimes it just gets on your last nerve, I know

I think I posted this somewhere before, but I was getting pretty frustrated with Devon for a while too as he wasn't making hardly any progress with house training. He was closing in on 5 months old and he still wasn't remotely trustworthy in the house. I had to take him out every two hours or so, and more often if he was playing hard and drinking water, or else he'd just stop in the middle of the floor and do his business. He gave no warning of any kind, he'd just all of a sudden stop what he was doing, squat, let'r rip, and then continue playing as if nothing had happened. I scolded him a number of times and immediately took him outside, but all that accomplished was that he would sometimes go upstairs into the loft to do his business where I didn't see him rather than doing it right in front of me.

Then, as if by magic, right about the time he became 5 months old, a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, he suddenly got it like a light switch being turned on, and from that moment on he has never gone in the house again. It took me a little while to realize that something had changed with him and that I hadn't had to scold him or clean up after him for the past couple of days. I put him to the test by not taking him out so often and he just held it until I decided to take him out. By Thanksgiving weekend he had nearly full privileges in the house, whereas at the beginning of the month I still had to put him in his crate if I needed to do something where I couldn't watch him like a hawk and take him outside every two hours.

Bottom line is that Minnie may end up being like Devon and that the transition from untrustworthy to trustworthy in the house will occur suddenly rather than gradually.
