Monty is coughing/choking almost none stop

Sorry to hear about the lung damage, but it sounds like he is going to be ok and that is terrific news! I bet he will heal up a lot better than the vet thinks.

Kip would like to add that spoiled dogs heal quicker, and gain confidence faster:)

Thanks Elei, yup I'm happy as I can be without it being all clear as it could have been much worse. Whether he heals fully or not, we'll manage and he'll not miss out on anything.
LOL please pass on that Kip is very right and I will take his advice :lol:

Slowly fill Mr B with steel shot.....

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Amen to no cancer!

it is sad to hear there may be some longterm effects BUT don’t forget he is young and youngsters can heal better than adults and miracles do happen.

Thanks Daisy!

I have no doubt Monty will continue to lead a happy life full of adventures. Like others have said, yep, you can carry him when he wears out on walks. My Noel, when she was a senior, often had to be carried home from hikes. She still loved hiking, and I didn’t want her to have to give up something she loved so much. But she just didn’t have the stamina anymore. 1 time I ended up carrying her a mile and a half. And she weighed 25 lbs!!

This is very good news, Darren! After what he's been through, I'd be surprised if Monty didn't have some lingering effects. That doesn't mean forever. Monty is a tough little guy as you know...he'll beat this, I'd bet money on it. There's no way you can keep Monty from being Monty, and that will be the cure. With yours and the girls' loving care and patience, his strength will come back. I'm so happy his long vet visits are over. Give him a pat for me, and a cookie.

Thank you so much everyone! Monty was never going to be a super athlete anyways so I'm sure we can get through this fine. I don't think he needs them to heal 100% to enjoy exactly what he had before. He was more about causing mayhem than excerise lol. If they do fully heal though then that is even better! I caught him pulling a sock towards him with his paw this morning so there's already good signs that the old Monty is still in there waiting to come out. This vet visit does not appear to have knocked him back any more so I think it's onwards and upwards from here at a slow pace.
I've been advised I have to push his walking the next few weeks to help build his leg muscles and cardio so he doesn't get stuck into a routine of taking it easy. Montys favorite thing was exploring the rock pools around islands. I'm going let him rest up today and then have a trip out tomorrow and find the best rock pools to help him forget what's happened. I'll just let him take it easy and sniff/look around and when he looks tired, carry him. Hopefully the fresh air will do him/us good, he can get a good amount of excerise and he can see we have more adventures to come now rather than horrible vet visits. He used to love getting in the car but hates it now so he needs to be shown that car trips are good again :)

Monty, our internet was down, so Mom couldn't check on you until this morning. Boy, are we glad you don't have cancer! You'll build p. Actually, you sound like Mom and Dad and our Aunt were after Covid 19 -- it took a long while for them to build up, too. Now that there's a report of a few dogs getting it, do you think you had it? If not, pretend you did so you get more treats.
Keep up the mischief!
Love,
Layla, Beckon, Penny, and Loki

And we know that pictures will be forthcoming, right?;)
