Obedience and Rally trial

So Finnie scored 100 today in Rally but the judge was awful in that he wasn't deducting anything! I'm all for getting a good score but I want to earn it!
At the beginning of the walk the judge actually said 'I've made the course shorter because it's not about the heeling, but about doing the exercises '.....huh?????
Finnie was bad....barking the ENTIRE time, out of position, I'm certain I had a tight leash AND I stepped on his paw:ROFLMAO:!
Little **** got in front of me as we were doing a 360 degree turn lol. I must say he was better behaved after that.
Here's his video from today.

I wonder if the judge was not watching when Finnie jumped up. Wow, was he a mouthy little guy!
Great job Finnie!

The judge didn't care what the dogs were doing because to him it was about doing the exercises. Someone's dog knocked over a sign and he gave them a 100! He's the judge for obedience tomorrow morning...don't know what to think lol. Finnie was barky all afternoon, lots of clapping and he was so mad! As was I, with him!
His wife was the obedience judge this morning and on the seek back (glove retrieve) she forgot to tell me to drop it so we had to redo the heeling pattern...then I lost Piper (his focus)

That is so crazy as I know when I was working on a CD title for Kelsey she got the perfect scores! The only reason the scores were deducted was because I made mistakes! She won second place each day for novice obedience and got her title.

Maybe Rally is more forgiving?

The judge didn't write anything down. Piper did good today but I screwed up...there we're some snarling dogs (plus 5 bitches in heat that had used the obedience ring for conformation...we were almost 2 hours late at starting) and on the sign double about u turn (I turn left he goes right) I lost him on it and rather than just getting him back I asked for a redo forgetting there are no redo's in excellent (I realized it after I said it) and so just treated it as a training run but he took both the high and bar jump. Had I realized what the judge was like of course.....
yeah- wow.
so no retries in Excellent? interesting, we can retry in every class except Master. which means that I usually don't even bother trying to fix something- I have had the judge say that the class was excellent or advanced and I could retry it.
I'm pretty sure in AKC if a dog knocks over a cone/sign, it's a certain point deduction- definitely not getting a score of 100.

Rally is not supposed to be scored as strictly as obedience but you have "obedience" judges who score it just as strictly and you have other judges that don't deduct for things that they should. and then you have the judges in between who score fairly and are the judges that you want to show to.......

OMG.....so so so close today with Piper.....did everything and then on Directed jumping on the LAST jump he took the bar instead of high....arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
At least he's on so I'll go home and work that.:((:((

acckkk- that's tough. I know that it's so hard to get everything right and then the last thing......................

Well on the plus side Piper was soooo on point today, moreso than he's been in the past 2 months. Just the fact he did the scent Discrimination 100%, finding the right article and returning to front (not walking around me) was amazing but of course there's always something lol. Just this morning he was off his glove, in practice wouldn't retrieve it so I spent 15 minutes playing with him with it and doing fun retrieving and then I played with him for 15 minutes with a tug toy.
Now we've come home and worked his jumps (he messed up of course but better here than there!).

So our final results from this show was Finnie received his RN title and Piper got 2 legs of his Raly Excellent title. Unfortunately, no Utility title this time around...Piper didn't do his first go out (stopped between the jumps and stared at me. If we dint get it next month, I'm going to have to travel with him. I can't continue this through next year!
I've discovered that Finnie is VERY reactive to clapping, and there's LOTS of clapping at a dog show! I've got 1 1/2 months to get him over this!
I'm very proud of both my boys...Piper got 2 99's (and tied for 1st) and Finnie got a 97 in his first time in the ring and a high in class!
Very good boys indeed!

Lisa, that is excellent! Congrats to you Piper and Finnie! Wonderful that Finnie did so well regardless of the clapping issues! Go team Piper and Finnie!!!
