Out of practice

Your so right Calliesmom...they always want to be the one lol.
Actually, last year at a show they allowed people and dogs to be 10 feet from the ring (and right at the end where the go outs were!)
Of course we were set up elsewhere but we certainly weren't happy with those that set up to watch there!
Have any of your dogs used their tail as a feeler Calliesmom? It's really the strangest thing...he's constantly touching my legs with it while we're heeling, it's like it's his hand lol!

I haven't noticed it but I almost always wear pants when practicing/competing. sounds like a good method for him to stay in place. I'd love to see video too:winkgrin:

they are amazing at what they can figure out on their own.......
I got the new bell for Finnie from my trainer...what a difference it's made! The first few times I held up one end (as a reminder for him) and after that he was picking it up off the ground no problem. He loves it (he has so much enthusiasm for his bell now)...I'm looking forward to teaching the retrieve and then next winter articles! Piper didn't start liking his bell until he was 2 so Finnie has beaten him by a year!

that is awesome that he likes the new one so much:yes:

So I go outside to do some work with Piper and he does great with everything until we get to signals...I signal down and he goes down, almost. Elbows are still off the ground...
Go back to him and heel, leave him and on down signal he sits then quickly gets up to come front:gaah
Start all over...down sit come, down sit come, down sit come...talk about a brain fart:ROFLMAO:.

Always always ALWAYS just before a trial lol.

:gaahSo Piper is STILL anticipating the signals....driving me crazy! My trainer said to go back to doing the wait like in recalls, just leaving him and saying wait wait wait and returning and rewarding the wait.
When I do the signals and I say wait between the down and the sit then he won't sit! It's like he's forgotten what wait means (and I know they forget)!
Yesterday I just worked on the wait and later in the day I did one set of signals and he was good but I'm sure he's not over it yet. We have 6 more days until the trial...I think Piper takes pleasure in stressing me out lol.
Finnie, when I do his recall and call him comes running sooooo fast he slides between my legs and has to back up a few steps:ROFLMAO:....he makes me laugh he's so exuberant about it!
And of course the judging schedule was posted and the person running this show has no clue. First trial goes from Utility through Pre-Novice then a break. Second trial goes from Pre-Novice through Utility...never mind the fact that Utility dogs NEED a fresh ring without all the smells from the other dogs, but I have to work evenings that day! I'm supposed to start at 3 (I work for a government run home care program) and there's no way I'll make it. Doubt we'll be done now until after 4! Only break is that it's Mother's Day and I'll have a few cancellations...plus I have very understanding clients and they know I do obedience with my dogs (but it's just another stressor). Plus this means I won't have time to take the dogs home before I head to work. At least the schedule has Utility A before B, so we won't be the last dog on....

Oh my... Piper is one SMART sheltie... hey mom, you know I can read your MIND! Just doing what comes naturally as a sheltie...:D

That is hysterical about Finnie! :ROFLMAO:

Good luck at the shows. Videos, please! :pop
