I really don't remember what it is like to live with only one dog. I think that would have been around 1975 when I had the Old English. Even then we had cats. Last year, pre Tinsel, we actually were able to rent a cottage and take the 2 dogs with us. We considered ourselves "nearly normal" for the first time as we were like many people and only had 2 dogs, 3 horses, 5 cats and 2 fish. Well, nearly normal anyway. My youngest son is hysterical when he recounts what feeding the dogs looked like when we were still showing and breeding -especially if his friends were complaining about having to feed one or two. By the time he got through the tirade about this dog getting this food, this one needing it soaked, these ones just being weaned, this one on low cal etc, etc and lets not forget the concoction of herbs or other supplements, the type of bowl and so on he always has us all in stitches. It's kind of like watching the movie "Best In Show" with non breeder/ exhibitors. Funny but slightly uncomfortable. Good thing that the dogs provide comic relief which is why we will have more than one for as long as we are able.
