Please welcome little Laddie to our SN family.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes...and Sheep I will keep a close eye on that tail although I don't think that mark is a "T".

Laddie's housebreaking is definitely a work in progress...with the emphasis on work, NOT on progress. LOL But that will come.

This morning Panda was not quite so sure he was thrilled with his new playmate. Panda loves toys and rawhide chews and to date these had been his domain since our little Yorkie and mixed breed have no interest in either toy or chews. Suddenly Panda has competition...whatever toy or chew Panda has, Laddie wants and takes. Panda is such a gentle soul that all he does is come running to me with big sad eyes to "tell" me that his toy or chew has been stolen by this upstart puppy. So this morning I put down 6 big rolled rawhide chews and over 20 toys so there would be no need for stealing...WRONG...the big steal is still in place.

It is bitter sweet watching little Laddie so full of life and missing the wonderful souls who left us this year...I so wish they too could still be full of life and still with us. But I know that Laddie will carve out his own special place in our hearts...it just take time. And having him with us helps to focus on today rather than the sadness. I am thankful he came to us.

Probably an "I" for innocent not "T" for trouble....I mean tail :ROFLMAO:

Panda will soon learn. Sca was nicknamed 'the nice dog' by the flyball team. When he played frisbee of course he caught it but would sometimes give it to a visiting dog, or run the wrong way so they could get it. Well when Spitfire arrived Sca gave him a frisbee, Spitfire declared all you frisbees are MINE. That did not last and Sca developed some pretty clever anti-theft techniques. He would still go the wrong way sometimes so Spitfire could get one but not the 100% Spitfire thought he should have. My bet is Panda will find hiding spots or put a senior dog slap down on him soon (sounds like not the second, Sca got his moves in but never once corrected the Orange Horror)

Give him a pet from us.

LOL I am not so sure about the "innocent" part! I will share Sca's anti-theft techniques with little Panda...he is too gentle to give bratty Laddie a slap down.

What fantastic news, brought a tear to my eye too. A puppy adds so much life to the home and everyone in it.

Gosh that sounds just like Tully and Kismet, poor Tully was always the boss of the toys, now Kismet steals everything and Tully is too nice to snatch it back. I keep telling Tully to get it herself, or stop chasing the pup and then Kismet will drop it because she only wants to have the others chasing her.

Yes, Hanne, this certainly wasn't "our" time, but as Sharon said the world has a way of overriding what we think. Laddie has a lot to learn since much of the typical socialization was not possible in our shutdown Pandemic time...so in many ways we are starting from ground zero as if he was only a tiny 8 week old puppy. But, like all Shelties, he is a smart wee lad and we will catch up with love and patience.

Hugs to your sweet Minnie...it seems like only yesterday when we were welcoming her to SN as a wee pup.

Today a little 4 month old sable boy, who came from the same kennel that my Faelee's sire came from, joined our family. Laddie was being grown out for show but his breeders decided to place him in a pet home as they had 2 other show males already. He is a little sweetheart and is already settling in well...a very stable personality. He and our big Pommie boy, Panda, have had fun racing around the yard, play bowing and Panda was busy showing Laddie all the sights to look at beyond the fence. They will be great pals. I only wish my Faelee was here to welcome her wee "brother", we miss her so much, but hopefully she is smiling down from doggie heaven.

Although this was way sooner than I had planned to get a new Sheltie, I am so thankful to a dear friend who let me know that this little pup, who carries an emotional tie to our Faelee, had become available.

Our home once again feels like "our" home with a Sheltie in our midst.
