Oh Chelle she looks so happy! I knew it was a match from the first because of the way she interacted with you two so well. I just had to wait for you to let your hearts guide you to the right decision.
She's a special girl and will learn fast. While she was here she never was anything but a lady.. Enjoy your new little girl. I'm so happy for both of you! This is what makes rescue so rewarding.. Not only are the new parents happy but so is the dog... Long life and happiness to you Miss Abby I will miss your sweet kisses.

Yes, she is home! I am on the fence about the name again. Apparently she wasn't given the name Paisley at the rescue but at her previous home. The same home that had 30 dogs and 50 rabbits! (I cleared up the numbers with Judy.) I really want her to feel secure and know that this is a whole new life. We will see... Right now, we are trying out Abigail (Abbie for short).
It means something like "my father's rejoicing/joy" in Hebrew. Since DH is Jewish (ish is right...), he really likes it. And she seems to respond to it quite well. For lack of a better option, I'll call her that here until/unless we change it.

When we got home (about an hour drive which she handled very well), I took Abbie for a walk around the building. She enjoyed sniffs and went potty really well. She will need some leash training, but it is clear she is a sensitive girl and will pick it up fast. She met a few of the neighbors without incident. When I took her inside, Pierre was waggly until he realize what I had with me. I let them sniff and bond while I got Duncan out of his crate. Abbie tried to poke her nose in at him and I had to push her away so I could get him out. I showed her the crate that is hers (it was actually supposed to be Duncan's, since we expected him to be bigger but he is so little it doesn't make sense). Took the boys out while she settled in her crate.

When I got back in, I took the pics that you'll see in the slideshow. (Except for the first two, which are at Judy's house.) She actually tried to play with Duncan! She wagged her tail, pawed him lightly (she's very gentle), and her front went down with her butt up. Duncan walked away, shaking a little. Apparently he is really with the ladies. She turned to Pierre to play, which led to growling and snarling. It only lasted seconds, but already the battle for Alpha has begun.

Abbie knows the crate is her place already. She took a nap there and will visit it occasionally. She is doing awesome already and I'm so happy to have her.

Some pictures were just for coloring purposes. She is definitely a color-headed white. A few of the pictures you can really see the grey merling, some you can't. Regardless, I think she is beautiful.

And Suzie - Echo is a darling. He needs a lot of love and a schedule, but he is full of spunk. A real diamond in the ruff, to be overly cliche. He is really starved for attention.

Thanks everyone. We feel blessed to have her. We know it might not be 100% smooth sailing, but she is absolutely worth the work.

Thank you so much. The first night was good. The growling between her and Pierre is getting infrequent. She seems to be acknowledging his dominance for the time being. She shows typical signs of a subordinate: eyes averted, turning away when directly approached. Part of the misunderstanding in the beginning could have stemmed from her size. She is 25 lbs and 17" at the shoulder, while Pierre is 11" at the shoulder and just clears 8 lbs. While not buddies, they are more friendly so far. Duncan still shakes if she gets too close. He just needs to acclimate to her and realize she means no harm. She is happy and has a snuggle buddy with DH.
 
What a wonderful, "feel good" story. Your Abbie is just beautiful and she seems to be smiling already in the photos. Thanks to you and to Judy for a lovely outcome.
 
I think I can pretty much conclude this post.

Abbie as a name is sticking pretty well. I'll add her to my signature in a week (because we could possibly change our minds, still). The working name at the moment is "Abigail Jubilee." The Jubilee part is because we hope to put joy n her life and know what a joy she is to us already.

Duncan stopped shaking around her! He's feeling much better after his surgeries. Also, Pierre is warming up to her quickly.

DH took her to the vet today. He thinks that she is 100% Sheltie, not a mix. Also, she has a yeast infection on her skin (you can even smell it) - probably from the poor nutrition from her original situation. Judy said it had gotten much better in her time with her. We also got a medicated shampoo and some fish oil stuff for her food. She has also tried to counter surf a few times. A stern "off" lets her know to stay away, but we need to be really careful. Everything went really well. :)
 
Welcome to Abbie! Keep the pictures coming. I love her pretty, unusual coloring. And she looks like a giant next to little Duncan :smile2: Love these rescue stories with happy endings. She couldn't ask for a better home, and she sounds like a real sweetie.
