After a couple of days when Pixie seemed to feel a tiny bit better, she rapidly went downhill. She is currently in the hospital and today they are doing another ultrasound, a biopsy of liver tissue that will be sent to Cornell for dx, repeat blood work as well as repeat urinalysis and fecal sample (which today had visible fresh blood). I am praying that what they find will be treatable. The head vet at our hospital came in today, he is on vacation this week, to devote the entire day to Pixie...we are so appreciative. Pixie is only 8 years old and already has 136 pages of medical files in her records...his comment was that he had never had a little patient with so many pages to her name and she deserved special attention...bless him!!
Pixie came from a family who got her as a "play toy" for their 8 year old son to keep him occupied while the parents were at work. By the time she was 6 months old she had been so mistreated that she was hiding from this boy and when she couldn't escape him she had started to nip him...so their statement was "she isn't any fun for our son any more and we no longer want her". She has never been physically healthy (they wouldn't say where they bought her...I am sure she was a pet store/puppy mill pup), but she has so much character and is one of the most deeply devoted and loving little souls to ever come into our lives. Pixie is my heart.
