Preparing to say Goodbye

That was a such a heartfelt, beautiful goodbye and tribute to a great deserving friend and a loyal companion. What a lovely dog and to hear your story makes me feel very privileged to have been allowed to read it, thank you for sharing this! Your story came straight from your heart and it makes me want to know more about the life you two and Shiraz shared. A celebration of this partnership, the fun and joy is what can hopefully provide you with some comfort during the worst pain. To be able to remember the fun, quirky guy that he was is what matters and to have made a decision was the best you could do for him.

May his good memory give you guys courage to get through the tough times of now being reminded at every corner for the next little while of what you have lost. I am so very sorry.

Toffee and I are thinking of you guys

I am so sorry for your loss. Your post was a wonderful tribute to Shiraz and your life with him. I have asked my Sheltie angels (Enga, Annie, Ariel and Trinket) to watch for him at the bridge.

I've just read your moving post. It was so poetic and through it I could picture little Shiraz and all the joy and happiness he had given you over the years.

My heart goes out to you are this hard time. Take care.

You have written a beautiful and so moving tribute to Shiraz and I can feel your love for him through the words. I am thinking of you at this desperatly sad time.

We all send our prayers and condolences, and we know that Shiraz will be welcomed at the bridge by all the shelties who left there humans with broken hearts.

The hardest part of this process is balancing the desire to not have him suffer with not wanting to prematurely end his life. On the one hand, he is not eating, is listless, is drinking a lot, vomiting some, has very loose stools and is a very sick and sad little guy. On the other hand from time to time he perks up and, to a very limited extent, does the things he used to do so then I wonder if maybe it is not time yet. Too early or too late: Both are horrible options. I do not want to rob him of life but I certainly do not want him to get to a point where he is in pain. I think in my head and heart I know it is time, but am just wishing and wanting it to be otherwise.

My deepest sympathy. I know exactly how you feel. I have had the same doubts & asked myself the same questions. You are not alone.

A wise person once told me "you made the best decision when no good decision was to be made".

Hugs to you.

Thank you for your post; some of Shiraz I can see in my Everett, I i dread going through what you have just been through. As I read it, I patted Everett to comfort me some.
Everett and I send you a prayer.

I know exactly how you feel.

Our Hana had suffered the exact same problems as Shiraz did but we loved her to bits more than anything in the world. It was heartbreaking to say the least to decide to let her go.

I'm sorry you had to go through this too.
Our deepest condolences are with you and your family.

RIP Shiraz
