I clicked on your link to this website and I hate to say this but the dogs are NOT beautiful Shelties AT ALL! They look like over bred mass produced Shelties. :dead:

Wow, they are selling 6 wk old puppies...

I see what you mean, Susan. Something looks off with them.

I agree. A lot of times shelties from BYB and puppy mills don't look right. It's like somebody once told me though - you breed crap to crap then what do you get?

Crap. :winkgrin::razz:

Puppy mills are very crafty. There is no one set way they operate. These people are career scam artists, and it's how they make money.

If there is anybody else who made the same mistake I did I'll tell them the same thing I realized - sometimes things happen for a reason. Maybe through an accident God used you to take an animal out of a horrible situation. I really feel bad about how I got Smudge, but I have a terrible feeling I know what his fate would have been if he wouldn't have came home with me.

Agreed. It's not just the looks, either.

But that website scares me because it does look legitimate. That makes it all the more dangerous.

I agree with you completely. Smudge is in the best situation he could be in now. And now you know what is going on and you will try to warn others. Sometimes things happen for a reason, indeed.

went to that Il website as well... they are morons if nothing else...
what they write about 3!!!!! weeks old pup is
Puppy Description

This vivacious, lovable girl has a full collar that is narrow on one side but it does go all the way around. She is the smaller puppy of the litter & still being quite outgoing. Emma comes from champion lines. Her pedigree has more red then black. Emma loves everyone she meets and would love to be held and cuddled. She will come up to date on her shots and de-worming. You can't go wrong with this cutie. Emma is so anxious to meet her new family. Her bags are packed and ready to go!

I agree it does sounds like a puppy mill, hmm... I am big time gardener and there is website where everyone could post their reviews of online companies they deal with so before ordering from company I do not know I would go there and see how they rated... is there anything like that for animals?
I did have pretty similar experience with Diana, it took us a while to decide about dog, initially we looked into rescues, most of them did not have Shelties, one that we were offered to look was very hyperactive with high prey drive and went after every cat ...we finally decided we should get puppy since we have cats so pup growing with cats would never see them as prey was our thinking.... anyway... few of breeders did not return our calls, one returned but never followed through coming back to us with details... we also were limited timewise as restructuring our lives for upcoming baby pup takes time... so we ended getting pup from BYB, where we had our pick of the litter, which fit our time frame and we knew which questions to ask, what to look and the answers where satisfactory...

First of all.....your decision to get a dog should be made before you get on a waiting list for a puppy. But your above statement confuses me because you said that one week was too short of a notice....but getting it the next day, or that day from a puppy mill or pet store but that is good? I am missing something. If you are on a waiting list...the breeder most likely has kept you in the loop regarding the puppies and let you know that it may be a possibility.

Anyway, a puppy is a lifetime commitment. It shouldn't be easy. That is why it takes a long time to adopt from a reputable rescue...and from a reputable breeder. Patience is a virtue...and if you plan on spending a lifetime with your dog...what is a few months of waiting. I know people that wait for years. And....most good breeders will not tell you which puppy is available for a pet before 6 weeks. They need to evaluate the confirmation, as well as the personality to make sure that the dog will be a good match....and that the dog will live a long happy life with it's owner.

I think the probably is we live in a very "I want it now" society. And life just doesn't happen that way.

Very well said! I also think we live in an instant gratification society and thats part of the problem and why puppy mills/pet stores are able to stay in business.

Your puppymill site is better than mine. All mine needs is "I'M A PUPPYMILL!" in big, red, scrolling letters.

I did not buy Smudge from that website though. I found that website after I bought him.

They've moved her link, too. :rolleyes2: The address I used to have for her personal page won't work.

Thanks! This was exactly my point. Pet shops tug at our heart strings. We fall in love with that little bundle and want to take "that" dog home immediately and save it.

Unfortunately....this is how the creeps make their money. Thriving on the emotions of good people.
