It did help Sharon, all part of the grieving process I think...especially when they pass suddenly. Our vet is awesome, I don't know what I would've done without her throughout Riley's illness.I hope this has given you a bit of peace, that Riley drifted off to the Bridge in a non-traumatic way. It's what I prayed for for Brooke as well. So nice of you to donate the meds - our vet does this as well, what a god-send for folks who are struggling with vet bills.
I wanted to say also, returning the loaned stroller we had was really hard as well - just kind of final. But it brought her so much joy, as I'm sure it did Riley.
Suddenly Saturday evening Riley passed away. I came home from work to find Riley on the floor with my mom petting him (she was in her easy chair). My mom didn't realize that he'd died, so she comforted him as he passed away. I'm not having an autopsy done on him, he suffered enough...I'm thinking he had a bleed (there was blood on the floor) and he just slowly drifted off.
My poor boy, I thought we'd have so much more time with him... I was just telling my mom how the Gabapentin was helping his back so much. At least he didn't suffer...
My mom is very very upset and lost without him, as much as he was my dog he was her protector and always stuck close to her (that and she always gave him the last bite).
Piper and Finnie don't seem to know yet that anything has changed but I'll be keeping a close eye on them for the next while.
I'm so grateful that he at least was able to enjoy the time we had with him the last while with the stroller. I'm sad that we didn't go for a walk this morning (it was raining) but we did get out yesterday and he loved it...I opened the front zipper screen and he would hang his head out and take in all the sights as we walked.
Riley is now with his original owner Susan and her mother Sherri. Run free Riley and be happy with Susan again, you loved her so.
Here's a few pictures of my sweet boy. RIP Riley, Dyniques Dream Come True

So glad you talked to the vet, I did the same with my general vet and it helps a lot. Even though you know it was right, it just helps to have a confirmed by the vet.
I felt the same about Deska's strollers and had packed them away as I couldn't face them. But necessity pushed me forward and now the Burmese cat and Tully use them.
I really understand not wanting to relive the pain - I even avoided places we had walked. In the end I got myself a little sketchbook and now I imagine what Deska would have done and draw a little picture so I never forget. My sketches are not good, but it has made a huge difference, going places is not as painful and I can smile about the good memories. Some days are good, and days like today I just weep from missing his touch.
