Happy New Year to you and Rupert! I am sure he will keep 2016 an exciting year for you as he grows up...enjoy every moment with your blossoming wee brat and take lots of pics of his adventures to share with us! :smile2:

Trini

Thanks Trini! I'm really enjoying the moment now when he is sleeping at my feet!:lol:

Things are going good with Rupert - outdoor potty training is getting better and he has discovered digging :rolleyes2: He likes digging. Anyway - One area that I just want to get some advice on is nighttime. He is much happier with his crate in the sitting room and that is where we want to have it (not giving in and having it in the bedroom). We work from home so the only time he is on his own is at night or if we have to pop out for a couple of hours in the evening. Most times when he goes in his crate he is ok for most of the night but when he wakes up and needs to potty, after I put him back in his crate for the rest of the night, he won't settle and cries. He stops eventually but its not good for him or us. I think it is separation anxiety. What I am working on doing now is crating him, moving away and coming back and then treat when he is calm, the idea being to stretch the time out. Did quite well with it yesterday. Is that the best thing to do? Have you any other ideas? He gets walked everyday, played with throughout the day and does obedience training daily also so I really don't think he is bored. I leave treats and chew toys in his crate and leave tv and light on (I mentioned this bit before I think).

Little Rupert Update: Nighttime crying has stopped!! Woo Hoo! Still working on toilet training ie transition from pee pad to outdoors all the time! He is just over four months now. Hoping to get his first video over the weekend. Working on loads of tricks and he is doing quite well (when he wants to!) We now have stay, sit, heel, come, down, place, left paw, right paw, rollover, high five, touch, twirl, bed, release (still a little trouble with that :rolleyes2:), fetch and bring it. Today we made a break through on get off and leave it. Sometimes if there are too many distractions he will not do these as quickly as usual but that is ok, we will work on it. Tomorrow we are going to start trying some very simple agility (ground stuff only - no jumping) bits in the basement ie weaving round some little cones, walking on a flat plank, running through a little play tunnel, running over poles laid flat on ground. Got some good videos online but any tips or ideas are welcome.
