Sada, the senior death-row sheltie

Thanks everyone! We really are lucky to have her. It was a no-brainer to "rescue" her, though I'm still surprised they were going to put a sheltie down. I was so worried they were going to do something while I was driving, but the shelter people were awesome and held her for us. They really wanted to see her go to a good home, what awesome people!

She's really coming out of her little trauma shell (they said she'd been wandering the back roads of WA for a long, long time). She's so well behaved and is becoming very bonded with us. I was worried because the first day or two she wouldn't even acknowledge us. Now she's following me around waiting for me to give her some attention. She also loves when we play "bark" outside in the mornings. What a sweetie!

I could go on gushing for hours-- that's the problem. I think everyone around me is tired of hearing me say, "Sada did THIS today!". Thank goodness I have a whole forum of sheltie enthusiasts to blab to. She's our little angel who's reminded me that having a dog is the best feeling in the whole world.

Stay posted for pictures when her new scarves arrive! They had to cut away so much fur that we're covering naked bits with scarves so she doesn't feel embarrassed.

thank you for your kind heart in rescuing Sada.. she is such a beautiful girl. its a blessing to hear that her tumors are not cancerous, and I hope that she has many happy years with you.

What a wonderful story, a beautiful little dog and two beautiful people! I know what you mean when you say they rescue you, not the other way around. My rescue, Cooper, has been a sweet savior to me during a difficult time as well. They seem so in tune to your feelings, I think in part because they are so grateful to you. Don't get me wrong, my little Meggie, obtained as a pup, is very attentive as well, but I think rescues can somehow relate.

God bless you. Both your dogs are beautiful!

Sada is beautiful and her story brings tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for rescuing her.

Any idea how old they really think she is?

A lovely story, although sickening to think people can treat animals like this at least there are Good People like you to love them back to health. Please keep us updated with the lovely Sada's progress.
