Sally is safe!!!

They must be working! She ate some peanut butter and some kibble. Maybe she looses her appetite when she's tired. I forget how easily old dogs wear out.

The Vet couldn't tell much about the tumor from a needle aspiration. If her blood work comes back ok we might have it removed. I'm not sure if I get to make the decision or if the rescue does. The vet said because of the location, it will be easy to remove. It's not attached to muscle and the skin is pretty loose there. Sally has not eaten b'fast for the last 3 mornings. But, I can usually get her to eat some ham and cheese. All 3 days around early afternoon she will walk up to me like she wants something. I'll get her b'fast bowl out of the fridge and she will eat it up. Her appetite and energy level will be good for the rest of the day. I'm not sure if she is just not hungry until later in the day or if she's full from all the food I'm always trying to give her. The vet did say there could be some other health problem that affects her appetite. Her front small teeth are ground down almost to the gum line. I've never seen anything like it but, apparently it's not all that uncommon. The vet said over all her teeth look good. I have mixed feelings about her having surgery on the tumor. I hate to put an old dog through surgery but, if it will improve her quality of life and increase her life expectancy it's probably worth it.
Over all Sally is doing great. Her eyes are brighter and clearer and she smiles a lot. She has even climbed the steps to look for us a few times. The only time she is unhappy is in the car. She really does not like the car ride at all.
 
Just curious, how long is Sally up for, before you give her breakfast?

I ask because I noticed Miko hadn't been eating his breakfast, but he was scarfing down his dinner and would even eat heartily mid-afternoon. It's like he just wasn't up yet or hungry to eat. So, I started feeding him 1/3 in the AM and 2/3 in the PM. Seems to work well. He sleeps all day when I'm at work, so doesn't need the energy. When I move closer to work, I may give him some food at lunch time too, just to keep his energy up.

Just a thought. From one senior to another (them, not us).
 
this is going to sound weird, but maybe Sally is more of a night dog, meaning not a morning..Sugar does not do mornings, the other 3, first thing in morning, out to potty...Sugar stays in and sleeps.
