I just can't imagine my girls without their long full tails - Ally kind of sashays when she trots along, tail gently moving side to side.... very cute.

I believe in Britain it's illegal to do ears and tails, even for Dobies. I used to work for a vet too and will never forget the ears, in particular.... yuk. Plus Dobies are so cute WITH their ears!

I love the dock (the owner's) nose idea!! :yes:

That is absurd... the only time I am for it is if the tail tends to break (I think rottweilers are like that) then you dock them IF they break

The Sheltie tail is beautiful and functional. What idiot would think torturing those two pups would be a good idea?!

TY so much for taking them in and giving them a good loving home while they get ready for their forever home!!

I think the Breed associations should accept dogs as they are with tails and full ears! Would you want your ears clipped ? Leave these dogs as they were made. The Breed standards division is partially to blame for these stupid stunts.:mad:

Probably a DIY or a really stupid vet.:mad: I barely tolerate docking(or declawing cats for that matter) those breeds who's standard call for it(until breed standards change,I do it to make sure it is done right, no home jobs/I don't do ears ever). But would never perform one for no reason. People are such are such morons. Sheltie tails are one of their best features.:(
 
It is really hard to fathom people who do such horrendous things to animals.

Why do people mistreat animals the way they do sometimes? :no: Those poor shelties are going to look so odd when they become adults and get all their fur in. Just think of how thick and bushy sheltie pants can get! It will look so odd with no tail! :(
 
I've seen a sheltie with no tail, my mentor had a puppy born without one. I saw the dog as an adult, and yes it did look kinda odd, but part of it was because the dog was somewhat short coupled, a tail would have made him appear longer. He didn't seem to miss it, and he looked very sheltie, being pure for sable with a really nice head. Just a funky developmental glitch I guess. Hopefully your two puppies were docked early in life not later, and by someone who knew what they were doing. I've seen bad docks, I particularly hate the ones where its so short and the skin is super tight, and its a constant irritation to the dog. Just don't get the logic behind docking shelties.
 
OH my gosh how stupid could they be!!! So glad they are out of those idiots hands. I think we should have the SUB go have a chat or growl with them.
