Shelties, how they make others think they are starving!

Sca will go and scoot his bowl around the kitchen floor, sometimes it is give me water dad but usually it is FOOD ME! I had to cut him back a bit since he was loosing his ribs and the sliding increased  Pooooor Sca

Deja isn't a big eater. I think she eats because she has to. She skips meals on a regular basis etc. We feed them twice a day but leave the bowls out so if tehy don't eat right away they can still eat later. Is that free feeding?

What seems strange to me is that Darby will sometimes go to the dog food container and bonk it even is we just put food in his bowl. The bowl is right by the container. All he has to do is eat but he begs for food instead.

Treats are another story all together. When they were younger, Deja was a very picky treat eater. after weeks of trying, we finally settled on microwaved turkey hotdogs. She will eat chicken strips and the hot dog treats but that's about it.

Smudge piles it on thick, and has everybody believing him.

One day I had him in the truck with me when we (we meaning Smudge and I, because there's not a lot of room) were coming back from shopping at the pet store. I was hungry, so I went through McDonald's and got some chicken nuggets and a large order of fries.

I'm going down the road, minding my own business when I hear a rustling noise. I look over, and Smudge has his long snout in my McDonald's bag! He was going to town on some french fries! I tried to move the bag (while driving!), but by then it was a lost cause.

He was secure! I always have him fixed so he can't jump about. I still have no idea how he got to that bag!

Edan is also a food dog. If it's edible, he'll eat it.

He has stolen food off of tables, grabbed whatever falls on the floor, and conned just about everyone into giving him multiple treats.

We have to be SUPER careful when making chocolate chip cookies during the holidays because if a chip falls he'll have it before we even have a chance to notice it fell.

Meggie definitely has the piglet gene as well. I swear she would eat until she exploded, if allowed to do so. My dad thinks I starve her! She begs from him all of the time, which shows me that when I'm not around he feeds her stuff she shouldn't be eating! He thinks he's being sneaky.

The only time she "stole" food was when I left a plate on the coffee table. She doesn't try to get on the dining table, counter, etc. I can also eat fast food in the car without her trying to get in the bag. She doesn't beg from me, she knows it is a fruitless effort.

My neighbor is constantly feeding my pup. She just adored Cleveland and kept food and treats available. She is the same with McKinley.

McKinley has the "I'mmmmmm starvvvving" look down to a tee.

When we cook, he parks himself between us and the cabinet because he says, "there is ALWAYS droppage!"

Oh goes without saying about the droppage! lol
But man he's just NEVER full! The lengths Shelties go through to convince others that they are starving takes on biblical proportions, Toffee's acting talent rivals Johnny Depp! Except Toffee IS better looking, if that is possible ;) lol

This all descrives poor Chinook - always starving, the poor thing. You may not feel his ribs, but yes, he is starving as I never ever feed him. HA! Maia, who is much thinner (proper weight) looks like I've starved her in comparison to Chinook - it does not help that she does not have much of a coat right now. I always get slack from people when they see and pet her and then tell me that I am starving her. I've tried to tell people that they will eat and eat and eat until the throw up and then they will just eat some more but they don't believe me.

Oh, didn't you know? When it comes to fast food, Shelties are telekinetic.

Angy has perfected the art of putting his head in your lap and looking up at you with sad, soulful eyes watching every bite you take like is is the last thing between him and starvation. He loves to go visit Grandma andGrandpa (my parents) because they feed him constantly and I've given up trying to stop them! They have a great relationship, sometimes I think he likes them better than he likes me. He is a piglet if I ever saw one!!
