Jessica, I'm sorry if I scared you. It was a very difficult thing for me to go through when my Mother died fairly young, and then I couldn't even save her dog. I'm definitely not saying that Smudge has to be put to sleep.
I just wanted to emphazise how important it is to nip it in the bud, when your dog shows any aggression towards you. It is also hard for me to be Alpha with my boy, Buddy. He is so eager to please and loving, that I hate it when I have to be firm when correcting him. The only way I can do it, is by remembering that dogs are happier when the owner is Alpha. When you are Alpha, your dog is supposed to be less stressed than when he thinks he has to be the boss, and I know you want to keep his stress down.
I, too, think that this may be the only time he has mange. Both of you have had a lot of problems here in the begining, but things will settle down. You are a good furbaby Mom, and I will be praying for both of you.
