Stomach Issues

Well, he's back at it again. Bentley has been sick the past two nights in a row. I wish I knew what was going on. He is eating even slower than before (probably takes him 2 minutes to finish his food, so it's not truly "slow" just slow for our clan!), but that is the only other clue.

He's only 7...I just want to know what's wrong!

I am so sorry to hear Bentley is being sick again. I really hope you can get some concrete answers this time so you know what to do to help him stay well. It is so frustrating when something is obviously wrong and no one can figure out why. Tell Bentley we are sending him good wishes and gentle hugs...and for you too.

Prayers going out your way for Bentley's restored health.

Please update when you can. Thank you.

ps Mally sends out a big, WOOF, WOOF, WOOF (Get Well Soon)

I'm so sorry to hear that Bentley is sick...hopefully your vet can diagnose the problem and get him on the road to recovery.
Hugs to Bentley.

Poor guy! I can't even imagine how frustrating that is.. you just want him to feel better. I hope the vet can figure it out.

Aw Bentley :(. I'm sorry this issue hasn't resolved by now. Can dogs have IBS? Maybe it's something similar to like IBS in humans?

I hope Bentley feels better and you get some answers soon. :fl

Yes, to the IBS in dogs. And they can also have IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) which has many similar symptoms to IBS but is more serious in nature.

I'm sorry to hear Bentley is still poorly. It must be so frustrating when you can't find a reason for it. I hope you can get to the bottom of the problem soon:hugs

I guess I should post the update that our nutritionist vet suggested we switch Bentley's food for the winter. We've started doing that, and are at about 50/50 (wanted to take it slow because of his stomach issues) and she also suggested we order a specific probiotic to give to him. Unfortunately the website hasn't been working so we haven't been able to do that yet.

Early this week Bentley started his tell-tale sign of eating very slowly (now maybe takes him 4 minutes to finish his bowl) and then two nights ago he threw up his undigested food. Last night, he did the same.

It's time for his yearly appointment so we're going to do more bloodwork. I'm curious if anything shows up this time (not much appeared last time we did bloodwork). I just don't know what to do. I'm happy to run any and all tests, but we don't have even a clue what's going on. I know the probiotic will help, but that doesn't seem like an explanation..or does it?

Nothing helpful to add - just wanted to say fingers crossed they figure it out soon.

So hard to see them not well and not able to resolve it.

I am so sorry to hear that Bentley is once again getting sick. Probiotics can help in some cases...and they certainly can't hurt when given in appropriate doses. My Pixie has Inflammatory Bowel Disease and she gets a Culturelle digestive health capsule daily.

Last year our Timbit was having serious stomach issues, not eating well and vomiting when he did eat. After nothing showed up in blood work or ultrasound our vet did an endoscopy and took stomach lining tissue to biopsy. The finding was a serious heliocobactor infection of the stomach lining. Antibiotics and Pepcid brought it under control, but we still have to give him daily Pepcid and probably will have to do this forever. He also gets Culturelle daily.

I hope you can find out why Bentley keeps getting sick...it is so upsetting to see them struggle and not know how to fix what is wrong. :(
