Texarkana Kennel Club Show

hahahaaha is that site not hysterical?!?! I laugh every time I log in...and hope to heck im not on it!

The dog show fashion police on facebook? I LOVE IT! I laughed at it so hard last night I thought I pulled something. It doesn't get any better than that.

Who seriously wears a lime green suit out in public?!

Adding one more thing for your dog show experience...please wait until after judging to start a conversation with an exhibitor ringside. Even if they are not going immediately in the ring, they may have other dogs they need to watch. If there is someone you would like to meet, and see their dogs, it is okay to ask if you can come by their set-up immediately after judging. Then, the person is expecting you to stop by. Sometimes it is hard to give the time to people when they just start talking to you. You feel bad, but to do so, takes your focus off the dogs and judging. Then you aren't ready when Tofu Pup needs you ringside!
Have a wonderful time, and bring spending money, there will probably be great venders.:smile2:

Jennifer isn't handling Shaine (the dog she will be showing) so she said she will have more time to wander around. Her friend is going to handle her dog. She said she is going to take pictures and videos with me. Too bad my camera doesn't have a video feature.

I'm in the market for some new shampoo, so if you hear something scream I'm pretty sure it will be my bank account. Pay it no mind.

This will be my first look at how competitions actually look. I'm more interested in obedience and rally, but I want to watch them all. :biggrin2:

I bought a black sheltie shirt to wear to the show. Am I completely insane? :uhoh: I have a shedding dog, and I bought a black shirt.

Stay tuned.

What is seriously the point of having the option to save something as a raw file if every single website in the world AND your own computer will not let you save it as anything other than a .jpg file? Seriously.

Anyway, the purpose of saying all that was that my sheltie shirt came in the mail today. It's cute, but it's the smallest 4x I have ever seen! :eek2:

Yes. A black sheltie shirt. I am insane. Thanks for asking. :biggrin2:

Only about two more days! I'm so excited! :biggrin2:

RAW files save EVERY BIT of data they collect about a picture so you can do large amounts of post-processing photo editing on a digital picture. (Brighten it, bring out details, make some colors more prominent than others, and many many other things.) You need photo editing software like Photoshop, Lightroom, or any other photo editing software, to read RAW files. Your camera should have come with something like Adobe Photoshop Elements on the CD. (Or at leat they cameras use to come with it.)

Professional photographers and higher level amateur photographers will only shoot in RAW, do post-processing, and export the picture in JPG. Personally, my camera, a Canon D40, will shoot both RAW and JPG at the same time so that's the setting I use.

If you aren't interested in post-processing your pictures at this time, there is an option in your camera menu to just shoot in JPG format. I'd recommend Large or Medium JPG because when you shrink them down you can hide some mistakes like slight blurring. If you are interested in free software to resize pictures to 'web size' (these cameras produce very large pictures regardless of the size you select) PM me and I'll send you a link to the software.

I think Picasa (the google picture thing) will edit RAW files. I use Photoshop, though, as a throw back to high school journalism. Sigh. That was before the magic of version CS2, though.

The shirt is TOO cute. My birthday is coming up, so I may have to get myself a present. If the shirts run small, that is good to know. And... where is the picture with you in it?!?! I want to SEE the fur clinging to you. (Which is possible because you can take HUGE pictures.)

I haven't even tried my shirt on. It's hanging up in all it's wrinkled glory in my closet. I don't have anybody to take my picture. I noticed the camera does have a timer feature though. I might try that out.

I have my camera set to take RAW files. I also have the software that came with the camera, but I've been too busy to install it yet. :dead: I've watched some of the instructional video. The guy goes a little too fast, but I understand what some of the buttons on the camera do now.

I'm doing a complete test run today, because this will be my last day off before the dog show on Saturday. Smuff's gotta buckle down and get it in high gear. I want runing shots inside the house, outside the house, in low light, no flash, and a night shot.

They're gonna love me. :biggrin2:

For a trail just set it to sequence shots (dial set to running guy and then stacked icon in display) and go nuts! I have a huge card that holds like 900 pictures and there is no way you can fill it. I have to believe you are good for a couple hundred at least right?

Have fun

My camera came with a 2GB card. We went to San Antonio last spring. Sea World, Fiesta Texas, Texas State Aquarium, and Padre Island. Anybody who knows me knows how many pictures I take. I had a 2GB card on that trip, and still had space left. :biggrin2: It was a 9 day trip if I remember right.

What I want to do this evening, and I may not get to it, is to take some inside practice sample shots of Smudge at the piano in the living room. I don't think Fluffy would be tall enough for it to look cute, but I think it would make an excellent shot of Smudge. :biggrin2:

Tomorrow is the big day, and I can't wait!

I seriously hope I don't forget to bring my chair. Knowing me I'll walk off and forget it. I wrote myself a note that I'll be taping to my alarm clock...if I can remember to tape it there!

I found out that they are not going to be doing agility at the dog show, but I don't know if they will do it for the Fun Match or not. Terry shows tomorrow at 8:00, and I think Jennifer's sheltie will be shown Sunday.

I think this might mean that I have to go to bed tonight at a decent hour so I can get enough sleep. :eek2::lol:
