Thinking about going for the CD title

plz forgive me im a bit of a noobie with the titles, i actually had to go google "CD" to know what it stood for, was thinking it stood for, "crazy dog" title...would so win that easily:winkgrin:

so yesterday i did my pretest for novice I, and my instructor said i could probably get his CD,
well the word that stuck out in my mind was "probably" meaning...maybe if he did something better,

So im thinking he needs to work on his automatic sits an sit next to me instead of off to the side,

next his attention span, gosh this ones hard cause he's not even 1 yrs old yet. what happens is if im walking towards the direction of people, he sees them, i do an "about face" and he's still focused on those people,

next when we run, he gets all jumpy and thinks its play time....and he loves to play,

those are the only problems i can think of.

so anyone have any ideas on getting him to focus better and not lose attention?
an not to get in a playful mood when i run?

I'm sorry, I can't help you with an answer. I was hoping someone else would be able to give you some pointers. Hopefully someone will be able to. The only thing that I can think is that he is still young, maybe wait until he is a little older but keep working on it so he doesn't loose what he has already been taught.

well me and bandit passed the Novice 1 test, basically just like the CD test.
We passed it!
he did all his stays, and a very good recal, did a great figure 8. Bandit did better than me. i was to stiff and nervous and it messed him up on his automatic sits, so yah :/
had a pretest before that and we did so much better on the pre test than the real one.

Well done to you :smile2: and Bandit of course. I'm afraid I have not been doing obedience long and certainly not any tests, so I can't give any advice about how to keep them focused, but sounds like you are on the right track.

cant remember my novice 1 score
I finished novice 2 last week and passed it :)

We got a 185 out of 200

we had a poor finish, poor sits, no sits, lagging and pulling on the healing,

everything else was perfect.
I find it funny that the other 3 shelties didnt even sit.

When i had to come to a hault i tried to slow down at an easy pace so bandit would figure out its almost time to sit. he still didnt sit.

i dont know, when it comes to testing he never sits.

Well at least you got your second Novice leg: congratulations ! Your fellow is still quite young, isn't he ?

I'm still working up the nerve to take Snap into the obedience ring. His sits and finish are good, however his off leash heeling scares me to death ! So it's all a work in progress.
